Alternative Metal Band Seeking Bass Player
Description
Who are we? Tooth & Nail
What are we? We are an adventure band.
Who are some of our Influences? Audioslave, RHCP, Soulfly, Tool, System of a Down, Alice Cooper and Pink Floyd (this list goes on and on but these are the sounds and themes we feel get closest to what we are up to)
Who are we looking for? In short, a bass player.
What are looking for in a Band mate? A creative. Someone who is writing music even if they are not in a band. Someone who is consistently exploring and growing with their music.
Who is already in the band? Dads, and business owners. People who already have a family and a career that they are committed to. But we are also creatives. We are people who go crazy when we don’t have an outlet. So we carve out a window on Friday nights to meet up and “add to the pile”. As a consequence the process is slow going, but we aren’t in a rush. The first goal is simply to create something interesting.
What have we accomplished so far? We have written the first book (10 songs in 3 chapters) in the adventure. We have demo recordings of the whole album that we created ourselves. 4/10 songs have bass parts written that will need to be learned and another 6 that need a creative touch. (Our bass player landed an amazing job on the east coast before he could finish putting his touch on the album)
Album? Its called, “All Mistakes are In” and its one part a description of our first characters, Tooth & Nail, and its one part a creative philosophy for the start of this band. It is meant to be a guideline that keeps us focused on writing first and worrying about professional this and professional that before our songs have earned it.
That list of influences is… “diverse.” How does that all come together? We have somewhat accidentally become a story first band. When we were first conceiving what we wanted to do, Alice Cooper was a name that came up. His stage show and theatrics really inspired us to try to create an immersive concert experience. Our drummer has his roots in heavy metal, but as a guitarist I lean towards Rock and Roll and Psychedelic. We have been trying to bring the bass guitar forward in the writing as much as we can because when successful the songs are much richer sonically. What immerged is a sound scape that varies wildly depending on what is happening thematically in the story. Ranging from Neanderthalic grooves to introspective soundscapes, and anything that supports the story goes.
We really try to paint strong visual imagery with our music and so the vibe varies dramatically. We had most of the base tracks and story sketched out before we found our singer - a true mad genius. The songs were like a playground for him and he voraciously went through the entire album exploring everything from metal howls, to 50’s crooning. It sounds insane I know, but the shifting themes of story take the listener (and the players) on a true adventure giving opportunity to a diversity of style that is not common in a traditional album.
Getting in touch: If you would be interested in meeting us, listening to what we have written so far and potentially becoming a member of this band please drop us a line.
