Torta Val is aka Vallisnera Americana, aka Jungle vallis, aka Tapegrass, aka Water Celery aquatic plant.
This is an easy care, hardy fast-growing plant with smooth, ribbon-like leaves. It grows well in most conditions and waves in the current. Mine is grown in plain gravel substrate in Barrie, with use of liquid nutrient Flourish and Excel liquid CO2 a couple times per week in a low-tech tank with a plant-supporting light bulb. I do not inject CO2. It requires very little work or pruning, and it sends out runners regularly which grow baby plants which will also reach adult height over a few months. Stems have 5-7 leaves minimally. Leaves can reach 2' or more in the aquarium and drape over once they reach the top. Tolerates temperatures 64-82 degrees Farenheit.
The Torta Val bunches pictured consist of between 10-20 stems, and this is a different effect than individual stems planted throughout the tank. Both are pictured. Also a medium size stem is pictured beside the toothbrush in the third photo.
I can ship to your address (costs extra about $17) and include detailed planting instructions. Plants easily survive 3-4 days in transit. I have lots of supply, plus a few other low-tech plant species (pictured) such as bronze crypt $8 and green crypt $5. . Torta Val $1/stem. Please phone (705) 229-7575.
REMINDER: Never discard aquarium plants or animals into outdoor waterways, ditches, ponds, or lakes given they can become invasive.
