Dishes/pots/pans/utensils are all provided -- fully equipped for cooking along with outside BBQ and fire pit upon request. If you don't wish to cook, tons of local eateries nearby in Port Dover, Port Rowan and Turkey Point too!! Rustic Cabin #6: Heron Haven is 'Mostly Unplugged', with no TV/Cable/Satellite, yet we have high speed WiFi capable of most streaming needs and to support the 'road warrior business' traveler that must have fast up/down speed for working remotely.

Useful Information:
Welcome to your lakeside getaway! Here are some instructions that will help with your orientation to the cabin. The cabin being waterfront is very close to the water table and as such the septic system is sensitive and cannot tolerate things like feminine hygiene products, diapers, paper towels, and in short nothing that did not previously go through the human digestive system! Use only septic safe toilet paper as provided. Similarly water consumption is also a factor and to help protect the environment and conserve resources water saving fixtures are used. Heron Haven does NOT have laundry facilities, yet there is a good, clean laundromat in the nearby village of Port Rowan 5-10 min drive.
Please note, the water is treated with chlorine yet it is NOT suitable for human drinking due to the unpleasant chlorine taste. Tap water is fine for pets and other purposes including cooking, toothbrushing and dishwashing. Bottled water starter kit is provided for drinking and may also be used for toothbrushing if desired. The large format bottled water jugs are available at the local Lily Mart in Saint Williams as are 24 packs of the half liter bottled water if you prefer the smaller format. Lily Mart is the closest grocer (190 Townline St, St. Williams) and purveyors of general items, food, snacks, some hardware, beer wine and liquor. Beside Lily Mart on its east side is a takeout food trailer, look for the white canopy. They sell burgers, fries and similar fast food items.

The bedroom air conditioner is set to run continuously so it keeps up with cooling the building. Please leave the bedroom door open when privacy isn't needed ; ) to help keep the hallway kitchen and living room cool as well. Keeping the front entry/ back exit wooden doors closed will also increase AC efficiency and comfort level.

Please be aware that watersports rentals are located in nearby Turkey Point for PWC / Waverunners / Jetskis / Water Jet Flyboard or any other type of motorized watercraft that is under 20 feet in overall length. Hilltop Lodge Marina does not allow any PWC or such equipment on the premises due to insurance reasons. We do offer boat slip rentals for any watercraft up to 25 feet length, so please feel free to inquire about your fishing boat, water ski boat or sailboat. Centerboard and daggerboard shoal draft sailboats are always welcome. Transient slip fees are subject to change without notice, so please inquire with the office prior to your arrival.
