Carl Zeiss Distagon T* f2.8/21mm ZF.2 for Nikon
Description
If you are looking for a lens that will demonstrate the dynamic range and the resolving power of your camera’s sensor, this is it! If you are a landscape purist, this lens is for you. The build quality of the full-metal Zeiss lens (brass with chromium-plated brass front bayonet) is superb. The fluted focus ring feels exceptionally well damped. The supplied lens hood is made of metal as well. The design is a true internal focus lens. The front element does not rotate and the length of the lens remains constant regardless of the focus setting. It has a filter thread diameter of 82 mm.
The ZF.2 designation means that this lens will pass EXIF data information to all DSLR bodies. By locking the aperture ring to F22 the camera will control the aperture electronically in all modes.
Although this lens is a manual focus, it is highly rated for video due to perfectly dampened focus ring and long turning radius making it quite suitable for video work where exacting focus is required. It has NO focus breathing and will mount easily on Nikon’s Z bodies, EXIF data will be transferred and work perfectly with the camera’s focus peaking.
Unlike other lens manufacturers, Zeiss uses its T* coatings on every surface of every element in its lens. They also use a black paint on the very edges of each element reducing internal refraction. You will not find another wide angle lens that will offer more accurate colour rendition, sharp contrast, brilliant micro-contrast (in a Nikon mount and at this price
Each and every lens has a weakness.It must be understood that this is relative to quality of build. This lens is reportedly susceptible to flare. To answer that challenge, I am posting two pictures were taken last October at Herbert and Bow Lakes in Banff. They were both taken directly into the sun, directly into the October sun was very low in the southern sky. This represents the most difficult/harsh conditions that I have been in. This 21/f2.8 performs as good, if not better than Nikon’s f1.4G/24, f2.8/14-24 or f1.8/20. I wish I had a Sigma Art f1.4/20, Tamron f2.8/15-30 G2 or the Nikon f1.4/24 to offer comparison shots, but I don’t/didn't…
* This lens comes with the original box and packaging as well as the Zeiss branded front and rear caps.
* I will also include a Zeiss T* 82mm UV filtre.
Please note that I have 33 x 5 star reviews. I believe that this item is of the highest quality, in exceptional condition and is priced fairly. Am hoping to sell this lens as I believe a 15/f2.8 would be better suited to my photography. Also, you may find a slightly better price on eBay, but only slightly. I have no patience for low-ballers, they will be mocked & blocked !
