    The new 2020 R1 comes equipped with the next generation of Yamaha's unique 998 cc inline four-cylinder crossplane crankshaft (CP4) engine for refined performance. Returning features such as titanium fracture-split connecting rods and offset cylinders contribute to a responsive and potent character, while the cylinder head, fuel injectors, finger-follower rocker arms, and camshaft profiles are new for 2020.

    RACING PEDIGREE

    Based on 22 years of proven race-winning engineering, the 2020 Yamaha R1M and R1 are forged from the technology and development gained from countless challenges in MotoGP, World Superbike, and MotoAmerica Superbike races, and the grueling demands of Endurance World Championship racing.

    MULTIFUNCTION TFT SCREEN

    The R1 features a brilliant full-colour, thin-film transistor (TFT) instrument screen, with front brake pressure and fore/aft G-force readouts, giving the rider even more feedback from the machine. Choose either the street or track display mode, the latter of which focuses on performance information such as YRC settings (including new Engine Braking Management and Brake Control systems), a zoomed-in view of the tachometer in the upper rpm range, a lap timer, gear position indicator and speed.

  • Freedom of choice

    • The particular technology of the Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension system allows simple and even customized calibration of the fork and shock absorbers with two operating modes: semi-active mode and manual mode, both of which can be selected using the buttons on the handlebar. 3 maps adjust the suspension in different ways and select the semi-active contribution. A1, A2 and A3.

    The first, developed for use with slick tires, particularly suits circuits with a very smooth surface; the second, for use with compound tires and at tracks with uneven asphalt; the third is dedicated to the road, characterized by freer hydraulics that better absorb imperfections in the road surface. In manual mode, on the other hand, the 3 maps (M1, M2 and M3) provide as many predefined calibration tipes without semi-active assistance, in the same way as mechanical suspension systems operate.

    Both in the semi-active and manual mode, the user still has the possibility, within the three aforementioned logic maps, to fine tune suspension calibration based on personal taste and riding style.

  • THE CHASSIS: A GUARANTEE OF QUALITY

    • The steel frame adopts the dismountable double cradle layout with weight distribution of 46% up front and 54% at the rear. The reinforced front part has a steering geometry which delivers dynamic cornering and exceptional handling and stability, thus meeting all the riding needs of the modern biker.

    The Kayaba shock absorbers with adjustable spring preload ensure a progressive and controlled response in all situations, even with a passenger onboard. Completing the chassis is the 320-mm stainless steel floating disc with Brembo callipers with 4 pistons and the rear brake master cylinder with built-in tank which ensures responsiveness and reliability.

  • SMALL BLOCK MOTOR: UNIQUE CHARACTER AND SOUND

    • The Moto Guzzi 90° transverse V-twin engine is unique in the world, and was designed not only with delivering performance and reliability in mind, but also with the aim of creating maximum riding pleasure and fun on the road.

    The engine contains a driveshaft calculated to deliver more liveliness during inertia and stronger engine braking, while the piston cooling oil jets come with a flow control and management valve. The exhaust comes with dual pipe manifolds for improved thermal insulation.

    The 744cc-cylinder is testament to the V7 III as the Moto Guzzi entry-level motorcycle. Maximum power has increased to 52 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 60Nm of torque at 4900 rpm, with a truly flat torque curve to deliver ease of use combined with the character and quick response synonymous with Moto Guzzi engines.

    The reduced-power version is also available, to meet the limitations set by the A2 class driver's license. Ideal for new Guzzi riders with its reduced total weight and size, it still delivers the overall easy ride of all the V7 III versions.

  • SAFETY: THE MOTO GUZZI HERITAGE

    • The V7 III is equipped with ABS and a new adjustable MGCT (Moto Guzzi Traction Control) system which can also be disabled. The former is a dual-channel Continental unit the prevents the wheels from locking up whilst the latter is a system which prevents rear wheel spin during acceleration.

  • THE MOTO GUZZI MEDIA PLATFORM: CONNECTING THE V7 III TO THE WORLD

    • The V7 III range offers the Moto Guzzi multimedia platform as an option. MG-MP is an innovative system which connects the bike to the rider’s smartphone by means of a dedicated app, downloadable for free from the Apple Store and Google Play. Compatible with both iPhone and Android, the phone essentially becomes the link between bike and Internet, creating a sophisticated multifunctional onboard computer.

    Foolishly and forevermore regretful, I sold my Black Beauty to a couple moving to Langley.
    It was to me and for them the best money ever spent. I am hoping its still on 4 rims and in any shape, i hope i can buy it back . It had a dent in the door and cab corner drivers side below the door handle. Black inside and out, 390 4 spd.
    More regret than my x wife, and you dont know her, TRUST ME, PURE REGRET....
