So with AI taking over a lot of jobs these days, what is a poor ex-medical transcriptionist to do? I realize there are thousands of us now without work, after decades of specializing in a skill that is basically obsolete now. Where are we to turn for work when transcribing remotely is pretty much the only thing we know how to do? On top of this, I personally am on disability and can't work outside of the home, so that limits my options greatly, I know.
What I'm looking for now is anyone who might have use of my skills if even just 2-3 hours a day or a few times a week, whatever. It doesn't have to be transcription, but can be basic data entry or other. I have always been very dependable and reliable working from home alone, without supervision. I'm self motivated and disciplined to meet deadlines, TAT etc. I believe my desired fees would also be competitive since I am willing to work for a minimum of 500 CAD a month. I'm obviously fully equipped with home office, computer and foot pedal for transcription work.
I'm hoping it isn't a lost cause at this point... it really sucks losing the only industry I ever specialized in, during mid-life when it's probably too late to try and train for anything else.
So there you have it, I was honest, truthful, poured my soul out and now will pray and see if anyone has any work for me, or at least any leads/suggestions. Thanks for reading this far, if you did.

This study uses a placebo condition. Half of the treatment devices have been modified so that they are inactive. If you enroll, you would have a 1 in 2 chance (like flipping a coin) of receiving either an active or an inactive device.
You may be eligible for our study if you:
-are 19-65 years old
-are currently taking an antidepressant for depression with no dose change in the past month
-are no longer feeling depressed, and want to stop your antidepressant medication
-do not have any other major medical or psychiatric conditions
-do not have a problem with substance use, currently or within the past 6 months
You will receive an honorarium for each in-person study visit to cover costs of participating.
This study is being conducted by Dr. Raymond Lam at the Mood Disorders Centre, UBC Hospital.

Chexy permet de payer par carte de crédit des factures qui ne sont normalement pas admissibles au paiement par carte de crédit. Notamment, paiement du loyer, Paiement d'hydro-Québec, Paiement des taxes foncières, des frais de scolarité de plusieurs établissements d'enseignement, impôts, certains services de gardes, certains assureurs. certaines sociétés de financement d'automobile, etc.
Dans certains cas, Chexy fait un paiement par virement interac, par exemple pour les loyers. D'autre fois c'est un paiement de facture bancaire régulier ou encore par paiement préautorisé (via banque peoples du Canada).
Chexy prends des frais de 1.75% sur les transactions, mais par contre cela permet l'usage de cartes de crédit qui offrent des points de récompense, ainsi deux principales stratégies peuvent être envisagées pour que l'opération soit rentable financièrement pour vous:
#1 : stratégie des paiements récurrents: par exemple. un locataire qui paie son loyer par virement interac programme son paiement via Chexy avec sa carte de crédit. Chexy prélèvera 4 jours avant le jour de paiement, le montant de loyer avec la commission de 1.75% sur la carte de crédit, puis le jour du paiement, le virement interac est fait par Chexy au propriétaire au nom du locataire. Ce locataire fait aussi des paiements de factures mensuelles programmées à Hydro-Québec avec ses paiements égaux mensuels via Chexy. Il demande aussi à ses assureurs qui refusent les paiements mensuels par carte de crédit mais acceptent les paiements bancaires préautorisés de prendre les coordonnées bancaires associées à son compte Chexy, Toutes ces transactions-là sont catégorisés être des paiements récurrents, Or sa carte de crédit Visa Infinite* Momentum Scotia lui donne des points de récompenses (cashback) de 4% sur ses paiements récurrents et sur l'épicerie sur un maximum de 25 000$ par an. Donc le coût de 1.75% est bien absorbé, il lui reste au net 2.32 % sur les montants transigés avec Chexy. il doit aussi compter l'impact des frais annuel de la carte de 120$. Mais au prix des loyers, et avec plusieurs autres paiements récurrents hors Chexy, il y a quand même quelques centaines de dollars de profits passifs à aller chercher par année. À supposer que notre locataire utilise Chexy pour 15 000$ par an de loyer, 1 500 $ par an d'hydro-Québec, et 500 $ par an pour son assurance habitation d'un assureur refusant les cartes de crédit, qu'il a pour 4 000 $ de facture récurrentes par année passées directement sur sa carte de crédit (assurance auto, abonnements de toutes sorte, cellulaire, internet, etc.) et qu'il a pour 4 000 $ d'Épicerie. Alors il maximise son 25 000$/an à 4% de ristourne: 1 000 $ de ristournes seront générés. moins 120 de frais annuels et moins 297.50$ de frais de transaction de Chexy sur les 17 000 $ transigés avec Chexy, le profit net est de 582.50 $ Ça a pour avantage certain face à la méthode numéro 2, qu'une fois programmé, ça roule presque tout seul sans avoir à gérer des demandes d'ouverture et de fermeture de carte de crédit.
#2: Stratégie des primes de bienvenue: par exemple, Un usager de carte de crédit peut bénéficier d'une offre de bienvenue d'une carte de crédit: il a des habitudes de dépenser environ 500$ par mois (6000$/an) sur sa carte de crédit, et décide de prendre une nouvelle carte assortie d'une promotion de première année qui lui promet que s'il dépense 12 000$ en 12 mois, il aura droit à une prime en point ou en argent, valant 750$ en plus de toucher 1% de valeurs de point pour chaque $ transigés, 2 % , 3% ou 4% sur telles et telles catégories. Or, il a ses frais de scolarité, taxes foncières, hydro-québec, assurances et autres dépenses, qu'il payait directement via son compte bancaire sans avantage. Voilà que grâce à Chexy il se trouve à payer ces factures=là via sa carte de crédit le rendant certain de pouvoir avoir son 12 000$ annuel sans dépenser plus qu'avant car il utilisera Chexy sur 6 000$ de dépenses qu'il aurait faites de toute façon, Il peut donc le faire et toucher le 750 $ et au moins 1% de valeur en points sur 12 000$ (120$), ce qui donne 870$ minimum de retour. On doit tenir compte des frais annuels de la carte de crédit généralement 120 $ s'il n'y avait pas de gratuité la première année d'incluse et du 105 $ de frais de commission Chexy sur 6000$, il profitera donc d'un profit net de 645$. Bon ça ne dure que le temps d'atteindre la cible de l'offre et ça incite à rechanger de carte de crédit par la suite pour user d'une autre offre ou arrêter tout cela rendu là... mais il y a là de quoi tirer un bon avantage en quelques mois, Il faut faire attention: si les points expirent avec la fermeture du compte de carte de crédit, il faut gérer qu'il faudrait liquider rapidement les points avant de fermer le compte, La carte de crédit peut comporter des avantages connexes: ristourne en points plus élevée sur certaines catégorie de dépense, Assurances-voyage, etc. Parfois l'offre de bienvenue inclue aussi l'annulation des frais annuels de la première année à bien tenir en compte. Généralement, si vous avez été titulaire récent d'une carte identique ou juste issue de la même banque que celle en promotion, ça peut disqualifier, donc bien valider les infos d'admissibilité.
Conseil: Idéalement ne pas fermer la carte de crédit détenue au début du processus pour ne pas trop nuire au dossier de crédit. On devrait toujours garder son compte de crédit le plus ancien et sans frais annuel ouvert et en règle pour donner un portrait de stabilité au dossier de crédit (et permettre un retour plus facile à cette dernière si vous interrompez l'aventure Chexy). Idéalement aussi, on doit être en situation de payer entièrement le solde de sa ou de ses cartes de crédit, car à 22% d'intérêt, ça coute plus cher que ne valent les ristournes il faut bien y penser! il ne faudrait pas que Chexy vous amène à plus dépenser et vous placer dans une mauvaise situation financière. Il faudra gérer que Chexy fait reporter d'environ un mois à un mois et demi, le moment ou vous payez réellement les dépenses qui sont ainsi passées sur carte de crédit. Quand vous cesserez d'utiliser le paiement par Chexy et donc par carte de crédit. l'effet contraire se produira: vous aurez à payer les dépenses du mois précédent via la facture de carte de crédit en même temps ou presque qu'il faudra payer celles du mois courant... donc le lousse dans le budget généré quand on débute le processus, Il y a une contrepartie, il vaut mieux le mettre de côté pour quand on en cessera l'usage.
Chexy peut aussi, en prime, vous procurer des points aeroplan. et ils peuvent abaisser pour quelques mois le pourcentage de commission si vous leur apportez 3, 5, ou 10 nouveaux clients par le code de référence. (ce que j'essai de faire ici...)
Chexy peut s'interrompre à votre guise, ainsi quand vous avez atteint le volume de dépense que vous aviez besoin, vous revenez à votre méthode de paiement habituelle pour ne pas payer la commission inutilement. Vous pouvez aussi utiliser Chexy avec plusieurs cartes de crédit, permettant d'avoir une stratégie plus optimale à votre situation par exemple une qui prends les factures récurrentes (méthode 1), l'autre pour obtenir une prime de bienvenue (méthode 2) avec les dépenses non récurrentes, si vous avez les volumes de dépenses le justifiant.
