Employer: Yukon Vogue Interiors Inc.
Location: Whitehorse, Yukon
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Wage: $32.00 per hour
Yukon Vogue Interiors Inc. is a Whitehorse-based interior design and furnishing company providing professional interior design, space planning, decorating, and minor renovation services. With over five years of operation, the company serves residential, commercial, and institutional clients, including participation in government and public-sector projects.
Interior Designers and Decorators conceptualize and produce aesthetic, functional and safe interior spaces for residential, commercial, cultural, institutional and industrial buildings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and supervising the execution of interior design projects in accordance with client requirements, building codes, and industry standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Interior Designer and Decorator will perform some or all of the following duties:
Consult with clients to determine needs, preferences, safety requirements, and purpose of space
Develop detailed interior design concepts and prepare plans, drawings, and 3D models using computer-assisted design (CAD) and other graphic software
Prepare plans, elevations, cross-sections, specifications, and detailed working drawings
Advise on selection of colours, finishes, materials, floor and wall coverings, window treatments, lighting systems, furniture, and fixtures
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and ergonomic standards
Estimate project costs and material requirements
Prepare final design plans and specifications for implementation
Coordinate and collaborate with contractors, construction teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
Monitor project progress and may supervise site work to ensure adherence to design specifications
Work in a multidisciplinary environment with other professionals
Qualifications
University degree or college diploma in Interior Design or a related field
OR equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
Proficiency in CAD and design software
Knowledge of construction materials, interior architecture, and applicable building codes
Strong project management and organizational skills
Effective communication and client consultation skills
