It is with a very heavy heart that I have decided to look for a new home for Loki, my 6-7 year old Meyers parrot. We have 3 other birds and Loki has become fairly aggressive with the other parrots. For this reason, he needs to be taken out separately, which means he gets far less attention that he deserves.
Loki is a good natured, affectionate and curious parrot. He prefers women, but with patience and the right person he has the potential to bond with men as well. He is very energetic and likes to come out to explore and play. He is funny and a bit of a goofball. He eats everything and loves to shred and chew toys (and papers if you’re not careful!) He likes to sit with me in the early morning when I’m reading the news and will always accept a head scratch. He doesn’t speak, beyond mumbling a few words.
I think that Loki has a lot of potential for training as well, given how well he responds to positive attention. He does bite me occasionally, but not usually very hard and mostly when he’s upset about going home. I generally use a short perch and this has more or less solved the issue. That being said, this is not a parrot for inexperienced parrot owners or children.
I am looking for Loki’s forever home. I am torn up about having to rehome him, and I take the responsibility of finding him a good home seriously. I will not sell him as a breeder. He should be in a home where there are no other parrots (or where they are entirely separate). Loki is not a good fit for families with children.
He comes with his cage and toys.
I care a lot about him, so I would hope to get updates on him every once in a while to see how he's doing. If for any reason it isn’t working out, I would also like to be contacted to help with rehoming him. He is a wonderful soul and deserves to find a safe, and loving home.

C'est avec le cœur lourd que j'ai décidé de chercher un nouveau foyer pour Loki, mon perroquet de Meyers âgé de 6-7 ans. Nous avons 3 autres oiseaux et Loki est devenu assez agressif avec les autres perroquets. Pour cette raison, il doit être sorti séparément, ce qui signifie qu'il reçoit beaucoup moins d'attention qu'il ne le mérite.
Loki est un perroquet de bonne nature, affectueux et curieux. Il préfère les femmes, mais avec de la patience et la bonne personne, il a le potentiel de s'attacher aux hommes également. Il est très énergique et aime sortir pour explorer et jouer. Il volera pour vous trouver dans la maison et sautera dans l'évier quand vous ferez la vaisselle. Il est drôle et un peu gaffeur. Il mange de tout et adore déchiqueter et mâcher les jouets (et les papiers si vous ne faites pas attention !) Il aime s'asseoir avec moi tôt le matin quand je lis les nouvelles et accepte toujours de se faire gratter la tête. Il ne parle pas, si ce n'est pour marmonner quelques mots.
Je pense que Loki a beaucoup de potentiel pour le dressage, étant donné qu'il réagit bien à l'attention positive. Il me mord de temps en temps, mais pas très fort et surtout lorsqu'il est contrarié par le fait de rentrer à la maison. J'utilise généralement un perchoir court et cela a plus ou moins résolu le problème. Ceci étant dit, ce n'est pas un perroquet pour les propriétaires inexpérimentés ou les enfants.
Je suis à la recherche d'un foyer pour Loki. Je suis déchirée à l'idée de devoir le placer dans un nouveau foyer, et je prends au sérieux la responsabilité de lui trouver un bon foyer. Je ne le vendrai pas en tant qu'éleveur. Il devrait être dans un foyer où il n'y a pas d'autres perroquets (ou où ils sont entièrement séparés). Loki ne convient pas aux familles avec enfants.
J'espère avoir des nouvelles de lui de temps en temps pour voir comment il va. Si pour une raison ou une autre cela ne fonctionne pas, j'aimerais également être contactée pour aider à le ré-accueillir. Il s'agit d'une âme merveilleuse qui mérite de trouver un foyer sûr et aimant.
Les demandes sérieuses sont les bienvenues. Le prix n'est pas négociable pour le moment.
