Western Rider Series
These courses are designed by Certified Equestrian Canada Coach and are meant as a continuing equestrian educational program.
Questions at the end of each lesson to help students identify what they know and a Certificate Of Achievement is generated upon completion of each course.

Western Riding 1
This course will be of interest to all riders or future riders who wish to improve their knowledge and skill in the basics of good Western Equitation. Recommended Prerequisite: Stable Management Basics
Topics in this course: Basic Western Rider Position, two methods of holding the Western Style reins; One-Handed and Two-Handed Position, how to use Rider Aids, the application of aids, and how they affect the response of the horse, and much more.
Western Riding 2
This course will discuss in greater detail how the rider’s ability to feel and be in balance with the horse by recognizing how the rider’s aids and application of, will influence the horse to better balance and performance.
Topics in this course: application of the aids, how to apply the aids for smooth transitions, the difference between a trot and a jog, posting trot and being on the correct diagonal, advanced rein effects and their use, leg yielding and its use, identify the correct lead while on the ground.
Western Riding 3 & 4
This course will discuss in greater detail, the riding component, position, and correction of the rider's care of the horse and how to apply polo rundowns, exercise bandages, hoof bandages as well as spider and figure 8 bandages. Students will learn in more detail the lunging aspects of training a young horse vs retraining a horse, and the fundamentals of riding a variety of western disciplines, rider position/faults, a variety of western disciplines and activities, types of western saddles and pads
