2010 APHA Strait From Texas Gelding
Description
It is with a heavy heart that I write this posting. .
I've had this big guy since he was a two year old, he's been my baby and I absolutely LOVE him. . He's a big old teddy bear, with a huge soft heart Unfortunately I think he would be better suited with an Experienced rider. . I've sent him away for training with two trainers with an overall of 4 months training and he's still too green for me to ride. I am a beginner rider myself and need something more bombproof.
He's easy to catch, Halter and Lead.
He ties, Loads / Hauls and Unloads like a dream.
Picks up his feet and stands for the farrier.
He gets along well with other horses (Stud / Geldings / Mares and Miniature )
He is higher up on the pecking order, so I wouldn't recommend putting him in with someone low on the totem pole.
He's never offered to bite, kick or even pin his ears at a human being.
He's not pushy on the ground, minds his manners and is super sensitive, his feelings get hurt easily. He's good stabled or pastured. Is an easy keeper with quality feed during the winter months. Never had shoes. He has been ponied behind quads, has been ridden down the road, lunges.
Never been sick or Lame in the time that I've had him.
he had a knee injury in fall of 2014 which was superficial and healed up perfectly without even a scar.
He's respectful of fences, two strands barbed wire or one electric wire is more than enough for him.
No bad habits or vices. No health issues in the time I've had him.
He will stand quietly for hours to be groomed, good for the vet and vaccinations.
Takes his de wormer well. LOVES treats. . And just want's to be someone's BEST Friend. .He needs a rider that can give him more one on one, and form a bond and relationship with him. He would excel with regular work and having a routine and a job.. He is a reactive boy, he wont bolt or buck but is on the spooky side and needs someone who can help him build his confidence. And that's unfortunately not me.
I've spent a lot on his training and I'm not looking to get that back, but I am not looking to give him away either. I am looking to place him with the RIGHT home and the RIGHT rider with hopes that he can make someone an awesome trail companion and best friend.
I am asking $3000 to the RIGHT home. .
Please tell me about yourself when you contact me about him. Do not ask me "Is he available" If the ad is up he is still available. His name is Baxter, he is a Grey / White Overo and I have his APHA papers in hand. Born May 2010 and is a Grandson of Strait From Texas, he's approx 15.2 - 15.3 hands high. Delivery isn't an option, he would need to be picked up. He doesn't come with any tack, just a halter and lead rope and his APHA papers / transfer. No tire kickers or time wasters please. Payments are welcome as long as he is paid for before he leaves my property. Deposit is required to hold longer than 24 hours.
Would consider a trade for a more beginner friendly horse.
Papers arent important, No soundness / lameness or health issues. No vices or bad habits.
