Adaptive/Therapeutic Riding Courses (OnlineTheory)
These courses are designed by a Certified Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association Senior Instructor and are meant to be used as a continuing Equestrian Educational resource.
The primary concern for any Therapeutic (Adaptive) Riding Program is a well-trained group of Instructors, Horses, and Volunteers, these courses are meant to provide the theory training component.

Therapeutic Riding Aspects
There are many TERMS IN USE today for the activity that was originally called Therapeutic Riding. There are two terms widely used today: Equine Assisted Activities and Equine Assisted Therapies.
This course will be of interest to individuals interested in learning the differences between Equine Assisted Activities, Therapeutic /Adaptive Riding, and Hippotherapy.
Horse-Handler & Side-Walker Volunteer Training
The primary concern for any Therapeutic Riding Program is a well-trained group of volunteers, who can make a difficult class a pleasant experience and reward for all. The preferred method to educate volunteers for the riding portion of the program is to have a session when no riders are present.
The Horse Handler/ Side-Walker Volunteer Training Course is not meant to replace the hands-on training that is required by all Therapeutic Riding Programs but was designed to complement it.
Therapeutic Riding Instructor Training
The Therapeutic Riding Instructor Course will be of interest to current or future Equestrian Instructors wanting to improve their knowledge and skill in providing safe, methodical practices seen in most successful Therapeutic Riding Programs.
Topics include; the prerequisite required for a Therapeutic Riding Instructor, the principles of teaching people with disabilities, teaching volunteers who assist Therapeutic Riding Instructors in a lesson, the objective of coaching a rider, the objective in training, schooling, and lunging a horse, lesson planning, medical condition of the rider that is seen in a Therapeutic Riding Program, benefits of Therapeutic Riding.
Disabilities and Special Problems
This Course is a fundamental guide on Disabilities commonly associated with individuals who ride in Adaptive/Therapeutic Riding Programs. Topics; learn what type of horse that will support the rider’s needs, the correct equipment that will support each rider’s needs, Human Anatomy & Muscles Used For Riding Mounting/Dismounting Techniques, Risk management & recourses.
Questions at the end of each lesson to help students identify what they know and a Certificate Of Achievement is generated upon completion of each course.
