Reptile Rescue.
Description
Didn’t realize the old AD had expired until today! They only last a year I guess! So here it is again.
Hello, my name is Katt. I work with and am the owner of a reptile rescue in downtown Halifax and have been running for the last two years called The Home All Lizards Love (Name is subject to change) but have been taking in reptiles for 9 years.
We have an incredible amount of rescued reptiles and always spots for new additions. As well as supply healthy babies for the province (ball pythons, crested geckos, leopard geckos, bearded dragons) during the summer months.
I am posting this ad here on Kijiji to inquire about rescues. Not to offer baby reptiles. Please do not contact me about that unless you see an ad on my profile for a specific species. I post ads when they are available. Which is seasonal as reptiles do not produce babies in the winter.
I’m here to say that if you have a reptile you can no longer care for, for any reason, or is sick and in need of 24/7 care, we do not judge and you are welcome to contact us. Your animals health and happiness it our top priority here. I personally have been working with and rescuing animals for over a decade but have only just dedicated my time and life to making this a business for the community and provide healthy animals and a place for reptiles to have a forever home. I have noticed there is not many options out there for Nova Scotia.
We only adopt animals out to people who sign a contract stating they must care for the animal in every way and cannot rehome it, sell it, release it, lend it or any other form of removing from their possession as well as just provide proof of the right enclosure set up in advance, deposits and must prove they know how to care for the animal as well. We take in reptiles and get them as healthy as possible, then make them as happy as possible and find their forever home but a lot so stay with the facility as they need full time care. Their care is our top priority and always will be. Many people take in reptiles as a ‘rescue’ and pretend to know what they’re doing just because reptiles are ‘cool’ and they can make money. The sad reality is that they don’t truly care for their health. Reptiles require so much care, money, time and effort. I have noticed a lot of this recently.
We have taken in dogs, cats, birds, rodents and many other species including horses.
Currently we only accept reptiles of any species/morph, birds and fish. We also accept donations of worms, rats and any husbandry supplies and enclosures. Due to corona virus we have had very little funding and a hard time staying open. Normally we do not take donations but as of late we have had to inquire to the public. Reptiles are not Nova Scotia’s main concern right now it seems. We also accept items you would be selling as well in our inbox! We are always looking for monthly worm and rat business partners! (We but same day every month and you can agree to have the order! )
We manage just fine now and always will as we have a lot of people dedicated to these little ones but we always need more supplies so we can take in more reptiles. We currently have many of each item but we are always open to more supplies!
**We are also open to joining with other reptile inspired companies or reptile adjacent companies and promoting and helping one another grow. **
In the next year we will be expanding into a large facility and offering educational programs in the facility, access to healthy beautiful reptiles (ball pythons(multiple morphs), boas, bearded dragons, day geckos, leopard geckos(fancy, normal), and crested geckos(multiple morphs) and more.
We will have a website up and running in the next month, we have always been offline and never needed a website until the pandemic. Thank you for reading this ad and please be safe out there!
(We also offer accommodation for pickup of rescues)
I can also provide proof of reptiles with proper care if you’re interested in homing a reptile here, and anything else you need to know the reptile is safe.
**ATTENTION!**
If you are contacting us to rehome a reptile please provide information about what the species is, age, it’s morph if it has one, what it eats, any issues with its health or previous vet visits and if you can please let me know what type of enclosure/lights it had where it was housed last. If the reptile comes with any items as well like food or an enclosure please provide that information as well.
We are open 24/7 for contact. Thank you.
