My name is Michael Hebbes and I have been playing guitar and ukulele for 20 years (16 years teaching guitar). I also went to Humber College for a Bachelors of Contemporary Music. I play music for a living with country, blues, rock and pop acts around the city.
Over the past 16 years of teaching I've found tricks to make beginning guitar and ukulele as easy as possible for any age group. And I have just as much experience teaching adults as I do children as I've only ever taught music and played music for a living and Im 33 now.

Lia is a violinist, pianist, and cellist who has been performing and competing for over 17 years. She is a recent graduate of Western University and completed her Bachelor of Music with honours in violin performance. In addition to being a classical violinist, she is a classically trained pianist and cellist earning her Grade 9 RCM certificate on the cello and Grade 8 RCM certificate on the piano. She has performed at several notable venues including the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.
Lia has a diverse musical background which includes classical, Celtic, bluegrass, folk, and old-time fiddle music. Hi, I am an experienced music teacher based in Toronto. I have been teaching and performing music for many years. My principal instruments of performance are the double bass and electric bass. I love to teach people interested in expanding their ideas about music and growing as musicians. I don't have a strict agenda for teaching, but I do espouse music theory and traditional reading as basic values for one's musical development. I'm very open and flexible and expect students to be the same. I am an active musician in the Toronto community.
I studied at Humber College, University of Toronto, and studied classical music and technique through private lessons.
I am available to teach from my mid-town Toronto home, or remotely; adhering to the current guidelines of Toronto.
Teaching Hours are quite flexible.
Some of my musical influences: Jazz (Miles Davis, Coltrane, Jarrett, John Zorn), Classical (Beethoven, Shostakovich), Rock (The Beatles through Wilco and Radiohead, Tame Impala, and everything inbetween), Rn'B/Funk/Soul (MJ, Stevie Wonder, James Brown), Reggae (Marley, Dub) Tom Waits, Fred Frith, Electronica (Square Pusher/Aphex Twin), Dubstep... lots more...

Special Summer Promotion: Free trial lesson
Why choose online lessons?
- flexible scheduling
- competitive rates
- variety of excellent teachers to choose from
- variety of instruments (guitar, drums, ukulele, banjo, bass)Have you ever tried learning guitar or drums from Youtube videos or online subscriptions, then given up and tossed the guitar back in the closet? It’s hard to know where to start, or where to go next. You might need a little encouragement and accountability to push to the next level. And when you’re trying to learn on your own, you need an experienced instructor to guide you through the process and watch to make sure you’re playing with the right form and technique.
We have an experienced and motivating group of teachers; we will pair you up with a teacher that you are comfortable with and look forward to learning from. We can also work with your schedule and budget to make sure the lessons are convenient and within your budget.
With online private lessons, we focus on exactly what you’re interested in, and design lessons that suit your ability and learning style. Whether you plan a career in music, or just want to be ready to play your favourite songs around the campfire, we’ve got you covered. You call the shots…and we'll guide you through it.
We use a free program called Zoom which allows for screen sharing. This means we can do things like listen to music simultaneously and look at tabs or chord charts on screen together. You can also record the lesson and work through it again later.
Along with guitar and drums, we also offer ukulele, bass, banjo, and mandolin lessons. This is your chance to try something new or get to the next level in your playing. And we're here to help you get there.Bios
