Position Overview
Apex Power & Automation is seeking a Journeyman Industrial Electrician to join our construction and maintenance team. This role involves supporting industrial and mining operations by maintaining, upgrading, and installing electrical and automation systems safely and efficiently.
You will work on a variety of projects, including mobile and plant equipment, automation systems, communications technology, and facility electrical upgrades.
Typical Schedule:
• 4 days on / 3 days off
• 10-hour days
• Travel required to various mine sites

Key Responsibilities
• Electrical and automation construction projects of varying scope and complexity
• Predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on facility assets and mobile equipment
• Troubleshooting and fault-finding on electrical and automation systems
• Installation of new equipment, controls, and cabling
• Small automation projects from design through commissioning
• Electrical additions and renovations across multiple site departments
• Participation in safety meetings, training, and site safety programs

Required Qualifications
• Journeyman Electrician certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial/ commercial maintenance environment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
• Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Solid understanding of industrial safety with a strong commitment to safe work practices
• Strong work ethic, organization, and communication skills
• Legally entitled to work in Canada on a non-temporary basis
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing
• Clean criminal record

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the mining electrical industry
• Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical environments
• Knowledge of soft starts and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
• Experience with PLCs and reading logic drawings
• Experience with wireless communications or radio networks
• Willingness or ability to relocate to the Elk Valley, Southeastern British Columbia
