Independent Supply Company is a distributor wholesaler catering to the Commercial and Residential HVAC/R industry and we have an immediate full-time opening for an experienced Lead Warehouse Associate. Job Summary Warehouse Associates are responsible for counting, verifying, receiving, and putting away incoming vendor material and customer returns; and for picking, packing and shipping customer orders. To experience success in the position, the Warehouse Associate will:Provide a professional atmosphere for our customersUphold our core values and ethics with every interactionBe an effective teammate in the Profit CentreBe courteous, friendly and build relationships with customersFollow all Health & Safety rules and legislation while performing job functions Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesReceiving Duties:Unload vendor shipments and returns, obtain packing slips and verify materials received. Note any discrepancies or damage.Print and verify receiving documents and enter received materials into the systemGive all received items a proper location in the computer system (this is vital to proper inventory management)Identify specials orders or damaged product and store in proper locationNote all shipping discrepancies on Bill of Lading, initiate freight claims and forward to appropriate teammate Picking, Packing & Shipping Duties:Pick items for customer ordersAssemble order and pack appropriately for pick-up or shippingComplete shipping documentation including TDG forms (as required) Inform Operations Manager of any inventory discrepancies, damaged/defective/non-saleable materials as these impact customer serviceMaintain warehouse cleanliness and safety. Remove empty cartons, metal banding, pallets and other debris. Inform Profit Center Manager and Health & Safety Champion of any safety issues.Assist teammates in servicing customers as requiredOther duties as assigned Environmental Conditions You will be exposed to the following conditions in your job:Outdoor weather with no climate controlWarehouse with limited climate controlPotentially hazardous equipment – forklifts, ladders, hand trucks, strapping, hand tools etc.The Profit Center stocks, sells and uses hazardous materials such as refrigerants, PVC cement, solvents and other chemicals. You will be required to handle these materials.Qualifications Skills and QualificationsGrade 12 education or equivalenceMinimum 1 year experience in a warehouse environmentAccuracy and attention to detailOutstanding customer service and verbal communication skillsAble to develop comprehensive product knowledgeAble to safely operate a forklift and any other warehouse equipmentAble to work independently with some directionComfortable in fast-paced environmentTeam player who works productively with wide range of peopleManages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing prioritiesStand/walk for duration of work hoursLift/carry/maneuver heavy material or equipment Preferred SkillsAble to safely operate a forklift and other warehouse equipmentPrevious experience with or knowledge of products sold in the HVAC/R Industry.Experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and OutlookAdditional Information Why Join Our Team?
