1965 Corvette-Rare Big Block
Description
Original 1965 Corvette Stingray. In 1965 Chevrolet built almost 23,000 Corvettes of which 15,376 were convertibles. Of all production, only 2157 cars received the L78 396/425 h.p Big Block engine. This was the first year of the big block engine and the only year for the 396! Of 2157 cars that were big blocks, 1500 were convertibles. How many are left? Likely half of that number which makes this beauty a rare beast. With its matching numbers drivetrain and Muncie four speed, leather seats, power windows/am/fm original radio, factory side exhaust and the original Nassau Blue exterior, this car draws a crowd wherever it goes. If you don't like attention then this is not for you.
I've had this car for 5 years and have spent over six figures to upgrade and make it drive reliably and enjoyably. Upgrades include, Steeroids rack and pinion steering upgraded to power steering from manual, power brakes upgraded from manual. QA1 shocks at all 4 corners. The engine has been taken out and upgraded to a hydraulic lifter cam, Edelbrock aluminum heads and intake and a Holley Sniper fuel injection unit. Vintage air makes it livable for those hot summer rides. I do have the original intake and 208 "porcupine" heads that would go with the car. recently dynoed at almost 570 h.p there is no shortage of power when you put your foot in it. Original Muncie 4 speed was also rebuilt.
If you are looking for a rare classic Corvette, this may be the one for you.
