Looking for Female Paintball/Airsoft Team Players
Description
One of the safest sports to play. There is no physical contact. All fields are practising COVID-19 social distancing rules also.
We are an established MILSIM Paintball/Airsoft team which operates in the Ottawa area. Our membership is composed of both experienced and novice members and we continue to grow. We are looking to balance our membership with a number of female players. The sport is often male dominated and we want to balance that out a bit. Come and play a few times and get to know us a bit first. No obligations.
Our goals are to develop our tactical skills and have fun; to teach individuals to work together through building bonds of trust and interdependence. We see these as life-skills which are crucial both on the field and in the daily life of the individual. Our team gathers on a regular basis with adults and youth in order to foster the above virtues. Our axioms are Justice, Unity and Honour. We work to cultivate these virtues in all team members.
This initiative is aimed at nurturing the virtues of leadership, confidence, bravery, hardiness, and self-sufficiency in women & girls
- What is MILSIM paintball/airsoft?
MILSIM Paintball/Airsoft is a genre of play where players Simulate Military Operations. We find it more stimulating to have some goals and objectives when we play, rather than just shooting randomly across the field. We don’t pretend to be in the military, don’t use ranks or fantasize that we know what warfare is. It’s just a more objective-based, structured style of game.
- Does it hurt?
Short answer: sometimes. Occasionally you will get a nice bruise, but the pain is short-lived. With the gear we wear your body is well-protected and we have never had any serious injuries. Your face and eyes are completely protected by regulation masks.
- Is it expensive?
Relatively no... You will eventually need to buy a uniform, mask, vest and a reliable paintball or airsoft rifle. Used items are available locally, and are a good way to get started. It’s possible to spread out the expenses and ease your way into the sport. Playing hockey or semi-pro soccer are much more expensive.
- Will I be treated differently as a female?
No. Everyone on the team is treated with respect and is part of a unit. We work to support each other on and off the field. We have regular coffee meetings and FB chat groups. Everyone has the right to equal input and we work together to come to decisions through consensus. We do not use a military ranking system.
- What are the requirements?
Age 16 and up, good health and some basic stamina are needed. We do not do anything extreme, but in summer it can get quite hot while wearing our gear and you will need to run short distances between points of cover. There is definitely crawling, climbing and hiding involved, but nothing dangerous or extreme.
- Can my boyfriend/husband/partner join too?
Our advice is to join on your own initiative and not to depend on a partner joining as well for support. If they don’t want to come or want to quit, then you may stay away or may quit also. Join because YOU want the experience. They can always come as a guest and play anytime.
