Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
• Provide clear direction and accountability to feedlot staff.
• Oversee daily task assignments and set expectations for efficiency and productivity.
• Establish and enforce clear roles and tasks within the team.
• Ensure timely task execution to prevent delays in feedlot operations.
Operational Oversight & Efficiency:
• Oversee all aspects of animal health and performance, ensuring proper nutrition, care, and handling.
• Develop and maintain structured protocols for daily operations, minimizing inefficiencies.
• Identify bottlenecks in workflow and implement solutions to optimize productivity.
• Monitor feed calls, animal movement, and health protocols, ensuring compliance with best practices.
• Oversee quarantine procedures and adherence to biosecurity measures.
Decision-Making & Problem-Solving:
• Act independently in day-to-day operations while escalating major decisions to senior management.
• Take initiative in resolving team conflicts, improving communication, and ensuring accountability at all levels.
• Analyze operational inefficiencies and recommend practical, data-driven solutions.
• Assess current team strengths and identify training or recruitment needs to improve overall performance.
Communication & Reporting:
• Ensure seamless communication between ownership, management, and the feedlot team.
• Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address concerns, and reinforce expectations.
• Provide daily reports on operations, highlighting challenges, solutions, and areas for improvement.
Equipment & Facilities Management:
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained to prevent costly breakdowns and inefficiencies.
• Develop preventative maintenance schedules and oversee compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through equipment upgrades or procedural changes.
Travel Requirements & Additional Duties:
• Occasional travel may be required for training, industry events, or collaboration with external stakeholders.
• Participate in hiring and performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement in team efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
✔ Valid Driver’s License & Passport (for travel as required).
✔ Excellent communication & leadership skills—ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and animal ration programs (e.g., Performance Beef).
✔ Strong ability to enforce discipline and accountability among team members.
✔ Understanding of biosecurity and feedlot health protocols.
✔ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
✔ Proven experience in feedlot management, livestock production, or a similar leadership role.
✔ Strong leadership skills, with the ability to set expectations and hold team members accountable.
✔ Hands-on approach—willingness to be on-site, assess challenges, and take proactive measures.
