Mandatory Training for Security Guards Carrying Batons or Handcuffs
The Use of Force Training Course from Training Centre Canada is an 8-hour professional certification program designed for security guards and security professionals working in Ontario.
Under Ontario regulations, security guards who carry batons or handcuffs as part of their duties must complete Use of Force training and recertify every 12 months. This course provides the required education and practical knowledge needed to safely perform those duties while remaining compliant with the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA).
This program is taught by one of the most experienced Use of Force instructors in Ontario, delivering the same high-level instruction used by professional security teams across the province.

Required for Baton and Handcuff Carry
Security guards working in roles that involve baton carry, handcuff use, or physical detention responsibilities must maintain current Use of Force certification.
Common environments where this training is required include:
• Retail and loss prevention
• Bars and licensed establishments
• Event security and crowd control
• Mobile patrol and response services
• High-risk commercial security environments
Even if your current position does not require Use of Force certification, having this training makes you more employable and qualified for higher responsibility security positions.
