COOK – Full-Time (Temporary)
The Cook is responsible for efficiently delivering food services in senior housing facilities. In addition to this, when scheduled to work any weekends and/or statutory holidays, this role will also supervise staff and residents, ensuring the efficient delivery of housekeeping and food services relating to their core duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide and special diets (i.e. diabetics)
Understanding of nutritional requirements of senior citizens
A congenial personality who enjoys working with and for the elderly
Ability to stay calm in emergency situations
Good communication skills
Patience, time management skills, and the ability to work independently
Ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with staff and public
Must be physically fit and be able to bend, lift and climb
Ability to carry out responsibilities listed in the Cook’s job description
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
Bonafide cooking courses and cooking experience
Supervision experience is an asset
A combination of experience and qualifications will be considered
Food Safe, WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certification preferred
Clear Criminal Record Check
A genuine interest and empathy for the care of senior citizens

Pleasant View Lodge
May be required to work at other sites
Initial Hours of Work:
7:00 am – 5:00 pm (9.5-hour shifts)
76 Hours per Pay Period (modified work week)
Varied shifts from Monday to Sunday
Pay Range & Benefits:
$25.79 to $30.31 per hour
