Merle Mastiff x for adoption

Seeking Large dog savvy home for fixed male Cane Corso Mastiff X. VERY loving, fun boy with people; selective when it comes to male dogs. Not friendly to intact males. Very vocal player, not for feint of heart! ADORES all people including kids, tho doesn't know own size so may knock over little ones when excited. Loves to sit in a lap! Wants all the hugs and cuddles he can get! Seems showy or stand off-ish at first with new dogs, but warms up when given the chance. Will defend his land with intimidating barks, but is all talk no bite. ;) Dominant type character, would like a doggy friend that is laid back and more submissive.
Unfortunately, Apollo thinks its really fun to chase cats. We have 2 barn cats and he loves to bark loudly at them till they run so he can chase them. If they stay still and ignore him then he just comes up and sniffs them and that's it. He tends to be somewhat intense, so he'll look like he's about ready to eat the cat, but in reality he's doing his best to intimidate and scare it into running. Some cats would still find this entirely too stressful. Others don't seem to mind. Still others will eventually get sick of it and hiss and scratch, which would likely make Apollo think twice, if it ever happened to him!
He may jump a 4ft fence if he is really drawn to go check something out, and if he ca get a foothold on the top of the fence. Otherwise he'll stay in. He is good off leash on an acreage type property, or on a nature hike that isn't likely to have any other dogs on it (if it's a dog likely type place, he should be leashed just in case he doesnt like the other dog). He wants to please and will do just about anything for a treat! He knows several tricks but his favourite is Speak. He's enthusiastic and has no idea of how big he is or where his big happy tail goes... so he will knock things over with it from time to time. He also uses his mouth to communicate, and will mouth your arm or hand (gently) or sometimes try to lead you somewhere by the arm to show you what he wants (ie: left overs on the kitchen counter, probably! LOL). He is gentle about this and has been taught bite inhibition. Never broken the skin. Some folks may be afraid or intimidated by this, or just misunderstand its intent.
Adoption fee negotiable to right home. Will go out on contract to ensure his safety. Can be returned at any time if not a match. Come meet this giant goofy love bug!
