Realistic SA-1000 Integrated Amplifier
Description
Built like a tank, heavy. A solid +20 pounds (9.0kg)
Like a power amplifier with a volume pot. Japanese made, looks like it may have been made by pioneer for realistic.
this thing has massive heatsinking, double the normal amount, and a big transformer, and a large set of capacitors. this unit will likely double it's power in to 4 ohms (200 watts per channel) I was really surprised (when I opened it up --I'm a tech).
Normally this unit comes with a cassette deck (junk) and a tuner, and a equalizer. I never got any of that. What I did get is a unit that is just - pure balls. Oddly enough. I jumpered out the parts that are not there, so you get a two line inputs and one phono input. and you have remote control capability on this unit. A universal remote will work just five. (volume and power, sources are switched manually)
To be clear, it has a more massive power supply and energy system than 99% of the $400+ 5-6-7 channel surround receivers out there. Remember, or note, they are the same size as this thing. Look how much space the transformer occupies in the chassis and look at the extensive heat sinking.
to give you an idea, the internal fuse for a 5 channel 100 wattsx6 surround receiver, is 6.3 amps. this unit, rated at 100 watts x2, has a 6 amp fuse. this unit is designed to belt it out, and belt it out hard. Unexpected Japanese quality in what looks pretty darned ugly, If I say so myself.
I think it was sold with the "Realistic Mach 2" speakers of the time, and they had to make the amplifier bomb proof ....as metal and rock heads would just --crank it.
