Math Tutor (Post-secondary) - Kingston
Description
Struggling in Calculus 101? I can help!
My name is Mark, and as a private tutor I have been helping students in the Kingston area and beyond since 2011, including students from Queen's University, St. Lawrence College, and RMC, as well as high schoolers and adult learners. I received my Ph.D in mathematics from Queen's in 2013, and since then have been teaching and tutoring math, statistics, and physics at St. Lawrence.
My rate is $35/hour for an individual session, with discounts for groups ($25/hour each for two, $20/hour each for three or more). Sessions are offered in person or remotely.
Some of the topics that I tutor most frequently include:
• calculus (introductory and advanced)
• differential equations
• linear algebra
• real analysis
• basic statistics
From my time as a student and tutor I have become familiar with nearly all 1st and 2nd year math courses offered at Queen's. Some of the specific courses at Queen's University that I have taught, tutored, or TA'ed in the past include:
• Math 110, 111, 112, 120, 121, 122, 126, 221, 225, 227, 231, 232, 235, 237, 280, 281, 312
• APSC 171, 172, 174
• Stat 268, 351
• Comm 161
"Mark has an outstanding way of teaching... if a math concept doesn't make sense, Mark is able to intuitively sense this and come up with an alternative way of explaining the material... he has corrected many of my misconceptions."
- Melanie Christian, Ph.D (Professor, St. Lawrence College)
"Mark's skill and professionalism that he brings to his teaching make him a pleasure to work with. His ability to explain complicated concepts... has completely reversed my academic decline."
- Gordon Hallam (RMC)
"Mark is a patient, knowledgeable, and an extremely dedicated tutor... Mark takes the time to go through each process and theory, and patiently helps us understand not only the problem at hand, but the general concepts involved... we would highly recommend him as a tutor/teacher."
- Rachel Wine & Lauren Kanee (Queen's University)
"I cannot thank you enough for all of your help and for being so kind and patient throughout. You truly are meant to be a prof/tutor. Please know that I couldn't have done it without your help."
- Genevieve Lavigne (University of Missouri)
