Plant Manager
Description
Our client in the food industry in Cambridge ON is looking for a Plant Manager to join their growing team.
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing plant activities to meet business objectives. The individual is accountable for all aspects of plant performance, ensuring a balanced approach to cost-effective productivity, quality and food safety, and the financial well-being of the facility. They empower key supervisors manage all functions involved and direct and coordinate day-to-day operations for the processing plant.

Responsibilities
• Oversees all aspects of daily plant operations through personal interaction with plant employees, Managers and Supervisors, ensuring production process run smoothly and efficiently and that floor response to immediate problems as well as it is handled in a timely, constructive manner.
• Provide regular coaching, guidance and direction to Production, Maintenance, Sanitation and Quality Control/Assurance, OH&S and HR Managers, meeting at least weekly/bi-weekly for one on one individual and departmental performance reviews.
• Identifies, monitors and reports on production key performance indicators, identified trends and makes recommendations to enhance productivity.
• Directs the production planning and scheduling process by evaluating projected sales volumes, inventory requirements, and raw product availability, and ensures adequate supplies are on – hand to achieve production plan.
• Maintain accurate inventory records that are verified daily for both Raw and Frozen products.
• Analyze and identifies the cause of product deficiencies and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performances, and quality of product.
• Guides and assists subordinates in solving production problems and ensures high standards are adhered to for general maintenance, safety, and preventative maintenance.
• Ensures that the Safety Committee is properly staffed and meets monthly to review and implement safety polices and procedures. Ensures a safe work environment is always maintained.
• Prepares yearly budget for production department, analyses monthly operation reports, and takes any necessary corrective actions to minimize costs.
• Develop and maintain a work environment that ensures positive employee relations, flexibility, and quick response to issues
• Stays current on production trends and recommends any changes in policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement. Manage and co-ordinates all plant inspections with third party and customer audits, and ensure HACCP, CFIA, GMP, BRC and all audit requirements are achieved and routinely adhered to.
• Participates in the research, development, and design of long-range strategic objectives of operations and works with other department managers laying out and planning potential future operational changes.
Qualifications
• Possess a Post-Secondary education degree/diploma- in business/management/engineering
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills
• Strong Financial acumen, including budgetary management
• Computer skills including word & excel
• Demonstrated high leadership qualities in leading a business and team, must have ability to motivate employees to keep operations running smoothly.
• Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing skills including background in a consumer goods environment.
• Knowledge of safety systems and processes.
• Ability to identify opportunities and follow through on the execution and improvement
• Excellent Analytical & organizational skills
• Problem-solving, must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects in a production line.
• Time Management, ability to face production deadlines, shipping dates and more, must manage time accordingly

• Strong critical thinking and communication skills (written and verbal) to share ideas and influence others, including senior management team.
• Takes a methodical, data driven approach to management and problem solving.
