2007 Appendix Barrel Horse - Very Broke
Description
Blood bay gelding, 15.3-16hh, UTD on shots, farrier, teeth. Fancy broke - has done poles, had ropes swung off him, did reining and Western pleasure with him in the past, as well as a bit of jumping & everything in between. Can be rode with a rope around his neck or nothing at all. Can do just about everything with him with your legs - side passes, stops, picks up leads, switches direction, etc. Very very broke. Safe for new riders under supervision and very forgiving, though he is not a point and kick horse - so teaches people how to ride properly. Very quiet under saddle - carry pop up barrels, flap your arms, nothing really bothers him.
Consistently runs top of the 2D with room for improvement, is push style and does better under a more forward rider. Runs well in a little s hack or a light gag bit. He is very safe going in and out of the arena, doesn't bulk and walks in flat footed. Can run left or right, I have been running him left but either works. Will not run by a barrel - send him as hard as you want. Great stop on him and he is cool minded enough that you could easily stop him at any point in the pattern and walk him out without any real fuss. Good and safe on the ground, though he's a bit quirky and enjoys chewing on anything he can ahold of. Can leave him for 6 months and hop on like nothing changed, though he enjoys being worked with regularly. Very safe and very easy going, but he does have energy when asked. He can get anxious on occasion but he is very easy to work through it & it rarely happens when he is being used regularly.
This has been my main gelding since 2010, and I've done pretty much everything with him. I know him inside & out, and I love him dearly. I just don't have time and I've been holding onto him for too long - it's not fair to him to sit, he deserves to be used. Not in a rush to sell him and will go to an approved home only on a buy-back contract (I get first dibs). He would make a great junior/high school rodeo horse or would be good for someone who wants to casually jackpot & have a safe horse for the kids & husband.
Currently boarded at a facility with a heated indoor arena.
I also have 14" Martin Crown C Saddle, CSI pad, weaver pad, Back On Track everything (two sheets, full set of leg wraps, poll cap), a ton of bridles and bits including Dave Elliot's.
