Being a part of the Early Years Daycare Centres' team of Registered Early Childhood Educator's will give you the opportunity to be a leader, a planner and a facilitator in your own licensed child care classroom.
JOB PURPOSE:
The role of the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is to support children’s learning and ensure their safety while in the program. The ECE will work as part of a larger team, under the direction of the Center Supervisor, in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate, play-based programming for the children in the classroom.
CLASSROOM ROLE:
Maintain ongoing interaction with the children during classroom activities on an individual, small group and large group basis.
Prepare materials for classroom based on ELECT/Emergent programming.
Lead the class on a daily basis.
Maintain good communication with the children, center staff and parents.
Model correct procedures and guidelines for post-secondary practicum students, parent volunteers and others.
Use problem-solving strategies appropriate to addressing conflict in a safe, productive and supportive manner.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma in Early Childhood Education
R.E.C.E. in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Related work experience with infant, toddler, preschool or school age children.
Current Child Care First Aid certification.
Strong knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice.
Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening/Criminal Reference Check.
