QA Lab Technician -Intern
Description
Job Description:Summary: Ensures manufactured products comply with or exceed the established company standards and customer specifications. Duties & Responsibilities: · Performs physical, analytical tests on all polyethylene films, bags, and PVC food wrap films within established timeframe as per testing criteria to ensure standards are met. · Maintain Films and Bag testing database, record test results as required. · Create test reports for all in house and 3rd party testing · Coordinate testing with of film products with 3rd party labs (as needed). · Develop and maintain product data sheets for all products. · Work closely with the Operators, Lead hands, Department Supervisors, Operation Team Leads and QA Manager to analyze product properties, test data and initiate corrective actions or preventative measures where necessary. · Update and maintain all private label specifications and testing in QC database. · Maintain all “quality related” documents (i.e., test reports, Lead Hand inspection reports etc.) in the laboratory. · Perform RFQ’s/R&D tests as required by Operations Team Leads and Quality Manager. · Manage storage of all retention samples. · Maintain log of customer film samples and corresponding trial samples · Calibrate and maintain record of all testing equipment in lab and on production floor · Provide support for continuous improvement programs like 5S & TPM. · Assist QA Manager to Investigate customer complaints and returns. · Perform monthly GMP inspections, and participate in internal audit, mock recalls, process improvement projects, QC Holds and create reports accordingly. · Provide support during customer plant tour by demonstrating testing methods and communicating quality related procedures effectively. · Conduct/Assist refresher trainings, food safety and technical trainings for Lead hands, packers and operators etc. as requested. · Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety, and other standards including BSCI. · Understand and comply with all IFS PACsecure (HACCP) standards and GMP policies. · Maintain proper General Laboratory Practices (GLP) in the Laboratory. · Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: · Post Secondary Diploma in a science related program. · Experience with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) testing methods an asset. · Proficient computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and word processing software. · Knowledge of extrusion process is an asset. · Knowledge of GMP’s. · Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook · Capable of working with minimum Supervision. · Strong organizational and time management skills. · Excellent communication and team skills.
