Is Atlantic Lottery Corporation Scamming People??
Description
I would like to share an experience that happened to me while having a lottery ticket checked at a couple of locations.
I am curious to know if it has happened to others as well.
The first location was at Sobeys at Vaughn Harvey BLVD.
I asked an employee at customer service to check my ticket. The lottery machines automatically make a “Win sound" or a " Lose Sound" I think most people reading this would know the sounds I am referring to but there were no sounds at all.
The employee told me it wasn't a winning ticket and asked me if I wanted it back. At first I said " No, Would he please just toss it in the trash bin for me but then changed my mind and told him I would take it back as I thought it odd that no noise came from the machine.
I then stopped off at a Needs store on Elmwood Drive and asked the employee there if she would check it. The same thing happened. No noise came from the machine and she asked me if I wanted it back and I replied yes.
I very rarely buy lotto tickets but know alot of people that do.
We Canadians tend to be very trusting of others and I got to thinking that alot of people would believe the person(s) checking their tickets and let them " Put it in the trash" for them.
I am not accusing these employees of being shady. Maybe the machines are new to them and they just don't know how to operate them.
A quick internet search does reveal that there has been incidents of staff pocketing winning tickets so things like this has occurred.
My personal advice would be if there is no sound coming from the machines don't let the staff keep the ticket (s) Take them back!
I did call Atlantic Lottery and after waiting on the line to be served a woman came on the line.
She said the machines have not changed and are still supposed to make the "Win" or "Lose" sound.
She then said she would transfer my call to another department. Instead I was transferred to 'Take a survey of my customer service.. ( Customer service that I did not receive) It repeated about taking the survey at least three times and then hung up.
I called back and got another employee who also wanted to transfer my call and this time I told her to forget about it as I didn' t care to go through that rigamarole again.
Atlantic Lottery Corporation; Please do better!
Again, I would advise people to hold onto their tickets especially if there is no sound coming from the machines.
