Truck & Trailer Technician
Description
Summary of Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance/inspections on heavy/light equipment
• Diagnose, repair and service a large variety of pickup and tandem trucks, heavy equipment, trailers and specialized winter equipment such as salt spreaders and snow plows.
• Perform Motor Vehicle Inspections
• Perform road tests on fleet vehicles, and when required use electronic diagnostic systems to determine problem with equipment
• Perform road side repairs in all weather conditions, be able to be on call during winter months
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of systems including, fuel, brakes, steering, suspension, engine, drive train, transmissions, axles, emission control, exhaust and cooling systems
• Perform scheduled routine maintenance services as scheduled/required. This includes, but is not limited to oil changes, tune-ups, and greasing
• Calibration of sand/salt spreaders
• Report to Fleet Manager with completed work order summarizing repairs on equipment
• Required to keep detailed records of hours of work performed on equipment through a daily work log
• Train and mentor apprentice mechanic, as required.
• Work 45 hours a week with the ability to work overtime and on-call when required. Overtime rate paid for hours worked in excess of 50 hours per work week and any hours worked on weekends.
• Any other duties assigned by the Fleet Manager
Qualifications:
• Mechanic Certification (Truck and Trailer License)
• English Proficiency
• Minimum of 2 to 5 years of directly related experience in vehicle and heavy equipment fleet mechanic
• Experience in the repair of Volvo and International heavy trucks is an asset
• Experience with snow removal equipment is an asset
• Valid NB driver's license
• Knowledge in hydraulic systems
• Driver’s Abstract
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to equipment, traffic, working outdoors, and noise.
Physical Demands: The employee is required to stand or walk for periods of time and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
SALARY/BENEFITS
• $27 / hour based on qualifications and experience.
