Leader of the Pack Dogwalking (St. John's East/DT/Torbay)
Description
Hello! Does your pup have an insatiable need for action? If they're anything like mine, they need to be walked 8 days a week!
Well, I can help! I am an experienced dog walker and owner with a "knack" for dogs. I can get along with just about *any* dog. More than I can say for most people! (I kid, mostly!)
My two guys and I are out seven days a week, sometimes multiple times a week. And we have room for a friend or two! As such, I am taking bookings now for up to *five* clients *only*.
What I offer is something a little different than some other walkers. 100% of our walks are "scent walks". These are walks where the animal is permitted to stop and sniff at *whatever* they see fit. Your dog will *never* be tugged on their leash to "hurry up", unless we are using a crosswalk! Scent walks are the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences a dog can have in their life besides their familial bonds with you, their pack leader, and your immediate family. Many well-meaning dog owners *think* their dog is fulfilled with a daily 20-30 minute walk, where the animal is basically being dragged along.
When I walk mine or anyone else's dog(s), the walk is *theirs*, not mine. A dog experiences the world primarily through their nose. So for a dog, sniffing at a parking meter, or telephone pole is akin to you or I stopping to admire a sunset.
Over 20+ years of dogwalking, I have built up a *huge* set of walking routes for every kind of dog. Most of our walks are urban, as I believe the extra scents and activity are beneficial, and that the uneven terrain and uncertainty of wilderness walks outweigh the benefits.
My normal rate is $50/hr, but bookings for January pay just $45/hour! Only actual walk time is billed out (to a minimum of 30 min, see below). Excess time is rolled over (IE, if you pay for 1.5 hours, and one walk is 45 minutes, the remaining 45 min. carries over to the next walk).
Walks are booked in blocks of 4, with half billable on booking, and the remainder due the day of the 4th walk based on estimated walk time (IE, if your dog tends to want a 45 minute walk, the initial billing will be for four 45 minute walks, aka, three hours total).
These rates include:
1) Pickup and dropoff service at your home.
2) Treats (please advise if a particular brand/style is preferred, and of any allergies/sensitivities)
3) Leash, doggy doodoo bags, and any other supplies required.
4) Drive to and from the walking route (so for the dog, a free ride in the car!)
You just provide the (preferably) excited dog!
Walks cancelled for reasons beyond either of our control are not billed (IE, rapid change in weather, your dog not feeling up to it, etc).
I am currently accepting clients residing in Torbay, and in the East End/Downtown areas of St. Johns. Exceptions can be made for a regular booking, but generally I keep to this area. There are other walking services covering the West End, Kilbride, Goulds, etc.
If you would like to book a $5 "trial walk", please reply to this ad, or text 770-0480. This covers my gas cost, lets everyone meet each other, and I can take your dog around the neighborhood to ensure compatibility. There is no further obligation, so if we don't all hit it off, it's perfectly fine!
