Atheris 3D PRINTING AND DESIGN
Description
So let me guess, you’ve looked everywhere for that replacement part, went to the stores, online, but just can’t find it. Or maybe you need a part that doesn’t even exist yet for something that just makes life or project easier. Or maybe, you have a really cool model file you need printed with tons of detail to display all its awesomeness! Well that’s where I can help you.
Allow myself…to introduce…myself. My name is Chris, I’ve been building and tinkering with stuff since I was a kid. Tech is my love language and raspberry pi is my safe word. If I can find a way to create it, build it or improve it, my brain will not shut off until the problem is solved. Which is also why I’ve rehomed my coffee maker to its new location, on my desk.
2020 sucked for a lot of us. Mostly because a bat with a bad altitude and IBS decided to use a fish market in wuhan China as its bathroom. Now we have to wear masks to breath fresh air outside…what?...anyway. That’s how it all started for me, not covid, 3D printing. Like the rest of the world that found themselves able to go to work in the morning without pants, I discovered I had a lot more time on my hands to do what I love, tinker. I got my first 3D printer back in 2019, but over the last 2.5 years I’ve completely thrown myself into 3D printing. I’ve learned a lot and fast. I applied 3D printing to my other hobbies first, amateur astronomy, drones, fish keeping and snake keeping.
My first printer was an FDM (fused deposition modeling) delta printer, followed by many other cartesian style printers. I quickly added SLA(stereolithography) resin printing to my learning curve, because FDM wasn’t steep enough. I loved it, I quickly combine the two into my daily learning routines. After printing my fill of benchies and articulated toys for my four kids, I turned my attention to more useful things. I taught myself how to design in CAD and create anything my imagination could dream up. I found the applications for 3D printing useful in virtually anything I did. So naturally, to keep up with my tenacious lust for creating, I bought more printers! I've expanded my printer arsenal now to 10, running almost 24/7. With more printers on the way, including a really impressive IDEX printer (two heads are always better than one, amirite?). Now that I have a small fleet of printers running, I am able to finish prints fast. I'm very OCD about efficiency, can you tell?
Soon friends and family started approaching me to make or design things for them. Word started getting around, that a bald, bearded guy with to much time on his hands was making things for people for almost no money at all. And that’s when it hit me, the hotend from my printer, I still have the burn mark to this day. But right after that, I thought, maybe I can help people on a broader scale create useful things, cost efficiently with quick turn around time. Thus, Atheris 3D was born.
I've always wanted to work for myself, run my own business, set my own goals and be a father my kids (Aurora, Phoenix, Helix and Nova) can look up to as they grow. Today, I get to do what I love full time. I'm fascinated how this technology is evolving. I love waking up everyday and learning new things about 3D tech to expand on my knowledge and skills.
