Description
Join the 100th Regiment and bring history to life by portraying an early nineteenth century British soldier. No previous military or historical interpretation experience necessary.
Established in 2014 and based in Ottawa, we recreate the 100th Regiment of Foot, an actual British regiment that garrisoned Canada and fought during the War of 1812.
As a member of the regiment, you will dress and drill in a manner to accurately reflect soldiers of the regiment around the year 1814. Members of the regiment have the unique opportunity to perform British Army foot & arms drill, take part in musket firing demonstrations, and participate in battle re-enactments for visitors from all over the world.
The regiment operates year-round with training during the winter months and public duties from late spring to early fall. Training is held in downtown Ottawa on Sunday afternoons from 1pm to 430pm. Public duties during the summer are mostly on Saturdays however some special events may take place on both Saturday and Sunday.
Most events are in the Ottawa area however we may travel to attend special events in other parts of Ontario, Quebec, and the even the USA.
Open to adults of all ages and youth starting at 15 years of age who meet the requirements. You do not need anything to start and unlike 200 years ago, its free to try with no obligation to join.
During the summer months, members aged 15+ who meet the eligibility criteria may be employed by the Society in fulltime paid positions that are funded through government grants.
The regiment is a program of the 100th Regiment Historical Society, a not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa. Please visit our social media on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok @100thregiment to see what we do.
You can apply to join anytime of the year and it’s easy to get things rolling. Simply give us a call or send us an email about your interest in the regiment. For more information, you can contact us by email at join@100thregiment.org and by phone at 819-209-0711.
