Hi, I’m the super handsome and furry playful Bandit! I’m originally from Quebec, where I had 2 previous owners in my short life already. I came to Ontario a few weeks ago to start a new life, and I am ready to start searching for it. I’m currently in a boarding kennel where I am worked with by my rescuer, who is a certified dog trainer. I come with trainer support, so don’t let when I am about to tell you about me steer you too far away from me. I am looking for an experienced owner however.
I am nervous around humans when I first meet them, especially men. It is suspected that I was mistreated by my leash/collar in my past, so this would explain it. I need to be approached slowly, and it will take some trust building before you will be able to touch my neck. My rescuer is able to now since we have been working together, but it will take my new person some time to get to this. I am very treat motivated and just want to please you. Once I trust you, you will get to see my goofy and playful personality start to shine through, and you will melt!
If I am uncomfortable, I will let you know. Please understand dog body language and warning symbols. I have not bitten any of the staff here in boarding, but I have scrunched my nose as a warning when trying to remove my leash. I do have a bite history from my past though, but the severity and circumstances are unknown. Please leave my leash on me for at least the first month both inside and out. It is part of the adoption contract anyway, but it’s crucial for me.
I am dog friendly when introduced properly, but I do need reminders to play nicely. Not all dogs understand malamute play after-all, and I can get a bit carried away. A meet and greet will be required prior to my adoption to ensure my new fur-sibling and my new human understand my style and to ensure we will be a good match. I am not good with cats. I have not been tested with children, but due to my neck sensitivity and bite history, I will not be adopted to a home with young children.
I am neutered and up to date on all of my vaccinations. My adopter will be provided with an already registered microchip to have inserted by their veterinarian upon my adoption as I am not yet microchipped.
Please note that I am in the care and guidance of 3 rescues collaborating together, so the adoption process may be delayed as all 3 rescues review all applications and come to a joint decision.
