Hi, my name is Sweety and I was born on July 18 2018. I am an affectionate girl once I get to know you, but I do have many quirks. Please keep reading if you have the time and patience to work with me.
I was raised in a home with several of my siblings and my parents, but I didn’t get much in the way of socialization outside of home. I FLOURISH with other dogs around, especially ones with a similar personality to me, or hyper and playful dogs. Requirement number one for my forever home is at least one existing dog in the home. If you do not have another dog, I am not the dog for you.
I was raised with cats, but it has been a couple of months since I have seen one. Caution would need to be used when introducing me to new cats, but it should be fine. I was raised with children (and fostered with them before my last adoption) as well, HOWEVER, sudden sounds or touching makes me scream, turn and stare - sometimes with a threatening demeanor. I should probably not be with really young kids until I am more socialized and desensitized. I am showing escape artist tendencies, so a 6 ft fence is required.
I am so dependent and in need of human affection, that I have developed a case of separation anxiety. As a result, I am not suitable for attached housing if you are away for work. If you work from home and are almost always home, that is ideal! I don’t like going in the crate yet, but you can gentle make me do it and I will go. I must be crated in your bedroom at night though or else you will need A LOT of coffee in the morning! I just need to know you are still there so will let out a few barks, but I stop when you tell me as long as I am crated in your room. I do well on the bed as well, but this should only be a reward for good crate behaviour. I am virtually house trained, but will go indoors if you miss my signal.
I am up to date on my dhpp and rabies vaccinations and microchipped, but I am not yet spayed. I was just in heat in July, so timing isn’t right. Early October is when it would have been ideal to do it, however I have just been returned to rescue and with my insecurities and not being settled, now is not the time. March should be a good time for me though. That gives me lots of time to get adjusted, settled, and socialized.
