Hello! My name is Amber, I'm 24, self-employed, and I breed pocket pets! As of the moment I have 11 Fancy and dumbo rat pups born on February 25. This is a once in a life time occurrence where two fancy rats make a dumbo rat. A dumbo rat is just a mutation the makes the jaw and ears lower and the ears are bigger. Mom and dad photos have been included in the photos above. However, the parents are NOT for sale.
They will be available for March 18th. Taking orders now. Photos of the rat pups will be updated weekly. SEX NOW AVAILABLE!!!
Now, the word “rat” for many people immediately conjures up the stereotypical vision of a beady-eyed, pointy-nosed rodent that scurries around at night in the trash. But actually, domesticated rats can make phenomenal pets and are far from the invasive vermin that people commonly think of when they think of rats.
Most people tend to think rats are "dirty" but that's not entirely true. They are fastidious groomers that do not like getting dirty. In general, if they get something on their fur, they immediately try to clean it off. They love to groom each other (allogroom) and to gather and organize their food into piles. So they are quite neat. Rarely do they need bathing. Typically, the only rats that require regular baths are older, obese, ill or arthritic rats that have difficulty grooming themselves, or unaltered males that mark their territory with urine.
Rats are very smart, so training them is a piece of cake. In fact, the reason why rats are used in scientific studies (think mazes) is to study behaviour since they have such high levels of emotional intelligence. Have you ever seen a rat roll over on command? How about a rat that plays fetch? Rats can do both those things and more! pet rats will also learn the name you give them! How cool is that?
Fun fact! You know how cats purr? Well, rats brux! Bruxing is a noise rats make by tapping their teeth together and it’s a sign that they’re happy and comfortable in their environment.
Many rat owners say the time they hear the most bruxing is when their pet gets to relax on their shoulder or in their arms. Rats bond to their owners very deeply and recognize their face, voice and will even try to groom their humans as they would another rat!
Rats need company. Never house a rat individually, they're social animals and can get depressed if alone. Rats need other rat company at night when they're most active and when you are asleep. They use their sense of smell to recognize others, finding out about where they've been or what they've been doing. Rats can develop abnormal behaviours if left without company and nothing to do for long periods. Even with lots of human contact, rats need to live with other rats. Rats kept with other rats are just as friendly with people. So I'd prefer to sell my babies in pairs or sets or threes at least.
My price for my facny rats are $4 each and my dumbo rats are $14. They are all wonderful pets anyone would be luck to have.
