It's not just a boat...
Description
It’s not just a boat. It’s THE boat.
It took me many years to find her, the one that has everything, but isnt spoiled by it all. She doesn't flaunt it around trying to impress, but rather bears it with dignified grace. It comes from a place of experience. She's old enough to have earned that confidence she bears, and young enough to keep making it look easy. She's been there, she's done that, and she has nothing to prove to anyone. When the going gets rough, you will look and see her doing what needs to be done with a calm, knowing smile that sets you at ease. You just know it's going to be fine.
She's perfect. Perfect because she has everything you could ever want, but somehow only 22ft long, and nimble enough to take in and out of the water on every use. But who is she really?
At her core, she is a Volvo Penta 5.8L 6 cylinder fuel injected kitten with dual counter-rotating Stainless Steel propellers. It's a great engine and starts right up on the first rotation, even after winter storage.
The FantaSea is a limited edition Silverline Nantucket outfitted for light offshore journeys. Yeah, you bet. She is rated for the BIG blue, and I have paperwork that says so. Most of her sister craft did not receive this tricked out upgrade package and were sold for more economic minded uses like water skiing and day tripping close to home. If you look up Silverline Nantucket boats to price check, you may find some for sale in Florida where they were popular. They seem cheap in comparison, and you may suspect foul play. Look closer. Those boats are the soap-box versions of the FantaSea. nothing more than aging ski boats with no grace and no purpose. Pulled from the same mould, yes, but that's where the similarity ends. If you acquire the Fantasea, you have acquired all you need down to the last detail to be a respectable mariner. You will be found anchored in a sheltered bay, eating fresh crab off the bbq and watching the sun go down from angles reserved for the most intrepid of souls.
Her kit includes:
-Digital navigation console, radar transmitter receiver and terminal
-2 sonar systems - one through hull that's always on for depth /obstacle detection and one for fish detection.
-She has a smartly hidden kitchen with dual burner stove, working plumbed sink, countertop area and fridge.
-A super comfy sleeping cabin with a small fully plumbed toilet under a corner of the bed,
-Stainless steel barbeque mounted on her rail,
-Anodized aluminum led deck and cabin lights, full color changeable LED trim lighting for mood
-Built in anchor system with electric windlass (winch) because we are older and sophisticated now. Hand pulling ropes is beneath you. Well, at least it can be.....
-3 different Bimini top configurations for 3 different conditions. The entire open back area has waterproof coverings with clear vinyl windows, leaving around 7’ head clearance and tons of lounging area.
-it also has a full set of custom blackout blinds so you can be as naughty as you want, right there tied up to a public dock. what people cant see is none of their business.
And it's not just the boat. What's actually being presented here is a tastefully appointed full spectrum Marine Experience Support System This kit includes a high pressure inflatable tender, much like a zodiac in construction (minus an engine) for excursions to shore. It includes a complete supply of kitchen ware, all the tools you need for gear adjustments while on tour. For your foraging and self reliance, I’ve included 2 electric down-riggers in perfect shape, with 220+ feet of top-tier braided nylon cable, x2 20 lb cannon balls, 2 salmon rods, tackle, and crab traps.
I hired a mechanic to do a complete tear-down and rebuild of the leg and power transmission system with me last spring. I bought the model-specific alignment devices, tools and components to perform full professional engine re-alignment with the new leg. Those tools will be included. We overhauled the cooling system, which was super easy because it’s outfitted with a freshwater re-circulation heat transfer system. The engine never sees salt water. just normal coolant that is pumped through a heat exchanger. I always flush my engine with fresh water after every use but with the fresh water re-circulation, you can miss a flush now and again with no adverse effects. It also makes winterizing a very easy task. You don't need to drain the engine, just the re-circulation system which is external.
The FantaSea was made to last forever. Literally. Silverline broke from the marine industry tradition of hiring boat designers with traumatic head injuries. This resulted in modestly bright thinking throughout the process, which had never been tried before. In a move that shocked the whole community, they used absolutely no wood in the structural assembly of the hull. What nerve they had. all the important bits are entirely synthetic and fiberglass, resulting in a boat free from rotting ribs, spanners and transoms. To everyone's surprise, with nothing included that can rot and fail, nothing rots and fails. This is yet another reason I love her so much. I still can't believe we are breaking up. I’m moving to Costa Rica, you see, and she just won't come with me. It's tragic, and I’m torn over it. I have literally considered staying just to be with her.
You're interested, I can tell. Give me a shout and let's see if you are the one.
All the best, and a good summer to you.
