RV pad for rent with farm duties in Coombs, BC

Beautiful rural horse acreage with horse boarding operation is seeking a farm hand to help with some feeding & cleaning duties. This is a working position which includes a lovely RV pad for rent as part of the working agreement. We are looking for someone who can reliably help with at least ONE day per week (with the opportunity to pick up a few more dinner shifts), to do the dinner feed, paddock cleaning, and turn-in closing gates (seasonally). A person with horse experience is preferred, but it’s not required. There is no actual handling of horses, but you must be comfortable working around them. The most important thing is that you are trustworthy, reliable, and organized. This is a rural property with no transit, so you need your own transportation.
It’s about 2 hours of work (a little less) to do the current feeding & cleaning, and we pay $50 for the shift (this can fluctuate as we get different boarders who may, or may not, require cleaning). So if you do one shift per week, you will earn $200 towards your monthly pad rent! And there’s an opportunity for you to do up to 3 shifts per week, which would earn $600, which pays most of your rent for only a couple hours of work, a few days a week. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is semi-retired, works from home, or who can be home by 5-5:30pm to do the dinner feed.
The RV pad is a beautiful treed campsite type of space, fairly private, at the end of our driveway. Lots of room for parking. Pad has 30 AMP power (with a separate meter), sewer hookup and water. The well water is fantastic! It is filtered, including a UV filter, and smells great! Shared laundry is available on the property ($1 for a wash & dry, to cover the electricity). We prefer a single person only, in order to manage the water usage and septic system on the property, but we will consider a couple for the right situation. We are looking for a nice, respectful person who enjoys living on a beautiful acreage. Nice walking trails for you to enjoy too, right off the property!
NO MOTORCYCLES PLEASE – We apologize for this restriction, but it’s because this is a horse property, and the RV is within earshot of the outdoor arena. Motorcycles and ATVs are VERY SCARY for horses, and can startle them and cause accidents. For horse & rider safety, NO motorcycles are allowed on our property.
NO PARTY PEOPLE PLEASE – We, the landlords, live on this property about 200 feet from the RV, on the other end of the driveway. We prefer non-smokers because of the proximity to all the trees, and there is no smoking allowed of marijuana outside because of the smell. Please understand that a business with boarders who have children come here, so we need to be professional.
UTILITIES – You will pay your share of the electricity bill, based on a meter that has been set up to measure exact usage, calculated using the electricity rate on the bill. So you only pay for what you use.
Currently the RV pad is set up with Shaw high speed internet, which you can connect for yourself through Shaw.
PETS – we will consider allowing a small pet on a case-by-case basis. The yard space is not fully enclosed, and dogs cannot run freely on this property because of the horses (for the safety of both animals), and we cannot have dogs left outside barking as this is dangerous for people using the outdoor arena. But we will consider your proposal and references. We are animal lovers, of course!
REFERENCES – Previous rental references are required. We may also wish to speak to your employer. We will ask for proof of your income.
