Doom/Stoner/Post-Metal Band Looking for Bass/2nd Guitar players.
Description
Bancroft/Peterborough based Doom/Post Metal/Sludge etc., band, Uncle Woe is looking for a bass player, and a second guitar player.
We're currently focusing on a few singles as we get comfortable with some new equipment, and then will be gearing up to get going on our 3rd LP, and would love to be able to take this act live as soon as public restrictions permit. (We have a couple of hypothetical gigs booked for Victoria Day weekend and Labour Day weekend, as long as we can all get out to events by then.)
In the meantime, we would need to find someone dedicated enough to be able to learn their parts and practice at home until we can all get together. I have intentionally left a lot of the bass lines fairly loose, with this scenario in mind. There are some songs/sections where the bassline is pretty carved in stone, but there is also a lot of room for you to make it your own.
Both Uncle Woe LPs have done some charting on The Doom Charts, and across Canadian hard/heavy radio charts. We've started cracking into US radio. Plenty of great reviews across all the right Doom-centric online pages and sites.
We've sold out almost every physical thing we've offered. We've been invited to shows abroad (pre-isolation, obviously,), and overall have a bit of an international cult following.
It would be amazing to be able to take that from just a studio based project to a fully functioning band. A few social distancing shows, maybe some online streamed performances, etc. in the semi-immediate future.
Even post-quarantine, this isn't something I ever see turning into a major world tour affair, but we would definitely be looking to play semi-regular shows between the GTA and Montreal.
Musically, we're fairly progressive, for a doom band. Lots of 10 to 15 minute songs with a bunch of different time signatures and elaborate song structures. It's basically prog in slow motion, and tuned to Drop G#.
The heavy parts are all the way heavy, but there are plenty of psychedelic, post-rock passages linking it all together.
Genre-specific influences include: Yob, Sumac, Sâver, Bismuth, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, CHRCH, Occlith, Meshuggah, Sabbath, Floyd, The Mars Volta, Deftones, Slomatics, etc.
You can find our previous releases at unclewoe.bandcamp.com
Production values have and will continue to improve since the first album, as the project became more serious. Plenty of new mics, software, interface, etc., even since the second album was wrapped up. Onward and upward.
Give ear to the stuff we've got so far, and get in touch if you're interested.
Much thankings.
