Manufacturing Supervisor - Production
The Manufacturing Supervisor in ESCO's Port Hope foundry plans, coordinates, schedules, and directs all manufacturing activities in the respective departments to reduce operating expenses, reduce inventory, and increase throughput. Will direct departmental manufacturing for efficient operation at the lowest cost consistent with quality standards, volume requirements, production schedules, and delivery dates; involves supervision of first-line group leaders and production workers in more than one department and establishes priorities in a unionized environment; encourages, empowers, and engages the team, leading by example in order to continuously improve culture and workplace satisfaction; promotes a zero-harm culture and adheres to EHS policies and regulations. Job Duties: â¢ Establish manufacturing quality standards, methods, processes, policies and procedures by studying production requirements; obtains consultations from supporting areas â¢ Establish an organization structure by assigning responsibilities, monitoring progress, and coordinating the training of employees â¢ Develop production plan by coordinating requirements with sales, engineering, planning, procurement, and shipping departments â¢ Achieve production plan by establishing priorities, scheduling activities and employees, monitoring progress, revising schedules, and resolving problems â¢ Maintain manufacturing staff job performance by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; plans, monitors, and appraises performance â¢ Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends â¢ Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and Lean, Six Sigma, Leadership and Communication training, etc., visiting other manufacturing facilities as requested, and participating in and leading Kaizen Events â¢ Work respectfully as a team with all plant employees to meet and exceed goals/metrics Qualifications (Education/Experience): â¢ Must have minimum of a diploma/certificate in First Line Management (or relevant field); BSc/BA in Management (or relevant discipline) is a plus â¢ Training and understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving concepts preferred â¢ Minimum of 3 years' experience as a supervisor (or similar role) required â¢ Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel required; PowerPoint preferred â¢ Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% domestic, and 5% internationally Additional Required Skills & Abilities: â¢ Familiarity with legal guidelines of the field â¢ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills â¢ Outstanding organizational and leadership skills â¢ Ability to adapt and learn a variety of work instructions, doing modifications as needed â¢ Must be permanently authorized to work in Canada Work Environment: â¢ Must be able work in fluctuating temperatures â¢ Fumes, dust, particulate and smoke may exist within the manufacturing areas â¢ May be required to stand or walk for an extended time â¢ Noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud in the plant areas â¢ Full PPE is required at all times in the plant area (i.e. hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety boots, etc.) TO APPLY: Visit www.escocorp.com to complete an online application for consideration This posting is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities, but constitutes a general definition of the position's scope and function.
