The property is 150ft wide x 300ft deep and is surrounded by forested private land, not crown land (although crown land is a short atv/vehicle ride away). On the back and sides it is bordered by a seldom used 99 acre hunt camp and across the road is the forested back end of a 100+ acre farm.
There are no neighbors within sight or earshot. Their are 2 parking spots at the road, with a walking path leading back to the cabins, not visible from road. Their are also 3 shoulder parking spots a little further back, still on the public road allowance.
One side of the property borders on an unnamed creek, it varies from 4-10 ft across and 2-7 ft deep depending on the spot and the time of year. It is always flowing and never runs dry. It feeds into the Moira river, however it would be unsuitable to use it for kayaking or canoeing more than a few hundred feet. I have only ever observed very small fish in it, along with beavers, turtles, frogs, etc.
No building permits can be issued for this property, because 250 meters before the property, the road goes from being a year-round maintained two lane road to a un-maintained single-lane road, which is not fit for emergency services. This 250 meter section of road is a public road, however the municipality no longer cares for it and it's in rough shape with large potholes. However if driven slowly an average car/minivan could traverse it in summer and fall. In the winter and spring it's wise to park in a pull-off area where the maintained section of road ends and walk the 250 meters to the property. On the plus side, there is no vehicle traffic and this basically your own road.
The municipality says 'structures 108 sq ft or under, that do not have plumbing' are not issued building permits, and so these cabins were built to comply with that.
