Heavy Equipment Operator TRAINER

SWS Training & Consulting Inc. is looking to hire a full time or part time/contract Heavy Equipment Operator TRAINER for our Morden, MB location. This position is required to travel to other locations, on occasion, sometimes in remote northern locations, as demand arises.
The goal of our training program is to have competent, trained and safe operators within the heavy/civil construction industry and to attract new operators to this trade. The focus is to relay safe & best industry operating practices and production techniques for new and existing heavy equipment operators. We are a PVI (Private Vocational Institute) in MB, this HEOT program is registered with MB Economic Development & Training.
Are you an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator, possibly looking for a change or a chance to give back to the industry you love? Are you good with people? Can you communicate what industry best practices are for operating heavy equipment safely? If so, this position may be a GREAT fit for you!
This training program is run approx. 6-7 times per year (pending demand), exact locations TBD. Each training program is 4-6 weeks long, typically Monday to Friday.
Position Requirements:
• Excellent speaking/demonstration skills – must be able to train and instruct in a practical jobsite environment
• Fluent in English (speaking/writing)
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Current MB driver’s license
• At least 15 years’ operating experience in various situations (loader, dozer, excavator, grader, haul truck, backhoe, skid steer – or combination of certain pieces)
• At least 5 years’ experience in a lead hand, foreman, supervisor or superintendent position considered a strong asset
• Must have experience working on heavy/civil projects: road building, mining, oil and gas, earthmoving projects, etc.
• Mechanical knowledge (small equipment repairs such as: hydraulic hoses, diagnostics/troubleshooting, change cutting edges/teeth, etc.)
• Knowledge of Equipment Pre-Trip requirements
• Current Criminal Record Check required
• Physically able to climb machines, be on your feet all day, walking, etc.
• Flexible schedule with ability to make changes as required
• Past adult training experience considered an asset
• Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health Act & Regulations
• Knowledge of safety, industry best practices, production tips
