Event Planner (Summer)
Description
Start Date Mid May to early September 2024
Assist WRA manager in overseeing all events for the season
These events include Canada Day celebrations: pancake breakfast, parade, outdoor entertainment, cabaret, Children's Festival, Other cabarets and the Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival
- Booking entertainment for events including the set up and take down of event spaces
-Develope and promote events through social media, on site, word of mouth and posters
- Purchase items for events within the budget.
- Recruit staff members and volunteers to help with events.
· Respond to patrons; problem solve and advise Manager
· Setup and teardown of tables, chairs, equipment and supplies
· Coordinate facility and equipment rentals when not working on event planning
· Assist Manager and WRA Events Committee
· Hold Class 5 license
· Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Of
· Planning, evaluating and implementing events of all kinds.
· Proper care, safety practices and rules of recreation, facility and equipment
· Cash management, accounting and record-keeping
· Use of computer equipment and social media applications
Ability To
· Lead staff and volunteers: training, planning, organizing, scheduling
· Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean and safe manner
· Perform work as directed efficiently, effectively and safely
· Work independently, set priorities and meet deadlines
· Demonstrate strong customer service skills
· Communicate effectively in person, phone and in writing
Physical Demands
·Perform physical work for extended periods; lift, carry, push and pull
· Walking, standing, bending: related to recreation duties and sporting events
· Working outdoors and in inclement weather
$18 hourly. Up to 40 hours per week. Plus stat and vacation pay.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills.
Taking direction and directing others
Positive problem solving
Working directly with the manager to coordinate events.
Knowledge of setting up musical events and cabarets.
A positive attitude and good work ethic.
Enjoy working with the public of all ages including children.
Cash handling and familiarity with sales.
The ability to enjoy and have fun at your job while maintaining a professional attitude.
Class 5 Drivers License.
Training in First Aid, CPR or Red Cross Certification an asset but not essential.
Waskesiu is a beautiful place to work.and live. Staff will have access to some of the best beaches, hiking and water activites that Prince Albert National Park has to offer.

Waskesiu is approximately 100km from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Access to housing is limited so applicants that have a place to live in or near Waskesiu are ideally suited for the position.
There may be an RV site available for the applicant with their own unit. The unit must be hardsided, no tent trailers are allowed per Park policy. Subsidized housing is available depending on employee start and end date.
