Lily - 12 yr GRADE palomino quarter horse
Description
Meet Lily
She is the sweetest little GRADE palomino mare. 14.2hh. 12 years old, had 30 days of professional reining training in May of last year and consistently ridden by me since. Perfect trail horse, not spooky. Rides out alone or in a group. Likes to be in front as she’s a quick walker, but can walk behind others fine. Great on the ground, loves being pet and brushed, will stand tied all day long. Trailers great, good with farrier (great with trims, sometimes can be a little sensitive when hammering - treats help!). ZERO buck, bolt or other funny business, she’s very safe. Rides around in the arena with cats terrorizing the place and isn’t bothered. Cats sit on her back/jump on her and she stands patiently.
I take biweekly lessons and ride her on my own 2-3 times per week, I’m a greener rider and have no issues handling her. Could use more miles in the arena but she’s very willing and honest. Will be ridden regularly until sold.
Has a few buttons, side passes, spins (slowly lol), stops on a dime, moves shoulders and haunches, working on backing up straight and she’s coming along nicely.
Excellent ground manners, climb on, under or over her. She goes through or over obstacles when asked. She follows me around the arena without a lead. Would be fantastic at liberty! She recently learned to chase/kick a ball and push a cart (have videos). I ride her bareback sometimes with no issues.
Lily is easy to catch in a paddock, usually needs grain in a field.
At this point I’d say intermediate/handy youth rider to continue her training as she is fairly sensitive and can be forward under saddle, but would never do anything unsafe. Definitely quiet enough to be a kids horse one day! Would be spectacular for kids on a lead.
Rides happiest in a bosal but will take a bit.
Lily was diagnosed with navicular and low ringbone in her front feet last July. She is currently shod with wedge shoes on her fronts and is on a Prevequine pill daily. She has since vetted as serviceably sound and is a whole new horse!
She is really the sweetest, and she sparkles like gold in the sunlight! I love her so much, but unfortunately it’s not fair of me to expect her to do performance riding. If I could afford 2 horses I’d keep her forever, but I’d rather she have her own person who will take her for trail rides, gymkhanas, clinics and love on her! I have X-rays which I will disclose to interested parties.
Come meet her, you’ll love her!
