The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing contact with existing customers, identifying new opportunities, and following up on potential leads. The Key Account Manager should understand Supply Chain Concepts and have the ability to add Value to both the customer and Varsteel.
Key Responsibilities:
• Will report directly to the General Manager
• Ability to react rapidly in our fast-moving environment
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers and prospects
• Keep up-to-date information of market changes and competitors
• Act as liaison between customers and our various departments such as, Inside Sales, Credit, Production, Operations, Shipping, Purchasing, etc
• Emphasis will be placed toward outside sales, with a combination of some inside sales
• Maintain customers and adjust to company and/or market conditions
• Arrange tours and see that the right people at Varsteel meet corresponding people at customer’s facilities
• Conduct regular meetings with customers and inside sales to ensure all Varsteel sales requirements and Quality Assurances are being met
• Strive to add value with each transaction we do with our customers
• File reports as required (monthly forecast, territory updates, lost business, etc.)
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field is preferred
• Experience in developing new businesses through prospecting and cold calling
• Ability for some overnight travel may be required
• 2-3 years of relatable industry experience is an asset
• Previous Inside/outside sales experience is an asset
• Robust knowledge of Varsteel and its product lines
• Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships
• Strong ability/desire to continuously learn
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Valid driver’s licence and vehicle
