Job Summary:
This position is responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees at several locations in Southern Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement. Travel is involved, the successful candidate must have a reliable vehicle.
Specific Duties:
• Ensure that provincial and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed
• Follow and enforce Varsteel's Health and Safety Program
• Administer new hire and safety training through the Online Learning Center
• Maintain record keeping through the Optic program
• Hold monthly Safety Meetings, Monthly Safety Inspections, Driver Meetings and Safety Committee Meetings
• Administer on site HSE program in conjunction with Corporation Health and Safety Program
• Coordinate with Corporate Health and Safety Manager on development and implementation of procedures and policies.
• Report all accidents to Corporate Health and Safety
• Work with Corporate Health and Safety to monitor the workers compensation program
• Work with Corporate Health and Safety to develop controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.
• Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice for all compliance regulations.
• Monitor ongoing updates in provincial safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements
• Other duties as assigned.
