1996 VW Cabrio (blown headgasket) taking offers
Description
head gasket went in sept, i was going to fix it myself in spring but if someone wants to buy it as is before that i wont complain
it would be a great project for someone who wants to get into fixing cars, and its hella fun to drive around with the top down, i just dont really need another project even though ill miss it
it will start and can get itself onto a trailer but i wouldnt drive it any farther than across town
the good
-haynes manual included!
-2 sets of good tires on rims (low pro summers and winters on steelies)
-front brake pads have under 10km
-new cv axles, under 25 km
-new front wheel bearings and tie rod ends done last spring
-i was doing the front struts a few days before the head gasket went (driver side still needs to be installed but old one is still in place... old one sits a half inch lower, i was told it had been lowered when i bought it so that makes sense)
-master cylinder is only 2 years old
-ignition coil is also about 2 years old
-replaced the alternator 2 years ago
-thermostat and coolant temp sensor, you guessed it, about 2 years old
the bad
-blown head gasket
-speed sensor is frigged, ive got another one but its not installed
-passenger door speaker doesnt work, iv got the plug for it i just havent installed it
-passenger window is now a manual instead of electric like the rest, rear passenger and driver window sometimes stop working but start again if you shut the car off and try again
-got a nail hole in one of the summer tires and it broke down before i got around to patching it
-im not sure what the rear brakes are like because i was going to convert them to disc brakes off of a donor car ive gotten rid of since, they might be okay i just havent looked
-pretty rusty underneath
-i might take the stereo out still
-windshield has a crack about 7 inches long by the rearview mirror
-part of the trunk latch broke and unless i replace the whole lock-set i cant order a new piece, i havent checked a golf but the jetta i had didnt have the part either, ive taken the latch out from the folding back seat (still have it just not installed) so you cant get locked out of the trunk
-the odometer is clearly wrong, i have no idea what it should be but im guessing its around 350 000k
