FOR SALE: 2004 Honda Element. $2000 OBO. AS IS. High kms.
Description
Well, for those who know me, the sad day has arrived :(.
I am listing for sale my beloved 2004 Honda Element EX.
It is front-wheel-drive with an automatic transmission and has the EX trim level with the Y-Package options (overhead cargo compartment w/ map lights, front and rear accessory power sockets, AUX input, premium Honda 6-speaker stereo system w/ subwoofer and amplifier). I worked for the Honda dealer in Chatham when I purchased this and installed a Genuine Honda roof spoiler painted to match as well as a Genuine Honda trailer hitch and matching Genuine Honda trailer wiring harness.
In giving full disclosure, it had the rear frame corrosion recall inspection performed on it over two years ago and passed, at which time they installed the support braces to the rear trailing arms where they bolt to the unibody. Unfortunately, winters here in the good ol' southwestern Ontario salt belt are not forgiving to vehicles and corrosion perforation has spread rapidly through the rocker panels and has started near the rear suspension mounting positions. Since I have a two-hour round-trip commute for work and two daughters who ride in it with me, I felt it was time to retire her while it was still my choice.
This amazing Honda has taken me from Nova Scotia to Alberta and everywhere in between.
It was camped in, has countless road trips logged and was even my home for four days while I made my way out west to work. Believe it or not, even with almost 600,000 km on it, it drives wonderfully and still feels solid with no clunks or bangs from the suspension (I detest suspension noise and replaced parts whenever they needed it). The engine still starts and runs amazingly (as is to be expected from any Honda) and the air conditioning still blows cold enough to need a hoodie.
I am a career-licensed automotive technician for the last 18 years and always take amazing care of my things, and this old girl was no exception. I performed synthetic oil changes every 5000-6000 km, general inspection with a tire rotation and brake service every 10,000 km, transmission fluid service every 20,000 km, brake fluid service every 2 years and only used premium aftermarket parts for any wear-and-tear items whenever they needed replacement.
I am probably one of the few mechanics out there who refuses to follow the old adage of driving junk and even if it's an older vehicle, I still keep them running and looking well.
The exhaust system was due to be replaced but I chose not to because of the cost and the fact that the corrosion is too severe in the body and near the rear suspension.
I'm asking $2000.00 OBO for her but will entertain reasonable offers as I know she is a very tired old girl and has a lot of kilometres on the clock.
Again, this is being sold "AS IS". While it is very much drivable and the motor runs great, it would not pass a safety inspection in its current condition because it has a broken exhaust, cracked windshield and severe corrosion perforation on both rocker panels as well as near the rear suspension mounting points. It would probably make an excellent project vehicle for an aspiring and adventurous 310B tech, or a donor vehicle for someone who already has an Element on the road and is looking for spare parts.
Thanks for looking and please send any inquiries using the form on the site here.
