WANTED: Live Local Spider Species
Description
I am looking for Sarnia individuals to provide me with live captured spiders local to the area. My purpose is for personal documentation and temporary observation of them.
Pay:
Looking to pay for $5/spider. You do not need to have them all, if you find one or two, that is great. I can come to pick up in Sarnia.
Some info:
I would prefer if you could also provide a photo of where you captured them but if you can not, please describe where you found them. DO NOT remove mothers from nests/egg sacs. These species are generally reluctant to bite and are not medically significant, but to avoid injury to yourself or the spider, try to use the paper/cup method or using a paintbrush to heard the spider into a container. If you want me to remove it, I can do it myself.
Types of Spiders I am looking for:
Bold Jumping spiders are overall black with white or occasionally orange spots. Often found on the sides of fences or buildings during the day. Not to be confused with Zebra jumping spiders that are much smaller, mostly white and stripey. I am looking for a few of these ones as I would like to breed them.
Yellow Garden spiders are those big orb weavers you will sometimes find in grassy areas. They are known to shake their webs as you approach. They usually are sitting in the middle of the web near a zigzag design. They are active in the day. I only want one of these so if you find this one, do not capture multiple.
Lace wavers are usually found on the ground and will often make messy webs sticking leaves together or rocks. They are mostly black sometimes with a lighter or whiteish marking. Their abdomens are fuzzy.
I am also wanting general larger orb weavers, around the size of a quarter. They can come in different colors and patterns. They are usually in the center of their web but will sometimes hide to the side of it. They can be active at day or night. I am looking for one, except if you have different colors/species in that case I will discuss how many I can take.
One I have yet to see myself is a "Spiney Orb Weaver". These look a bit like crabs. There are different species and colors but with thorny shaped abdomens. They also have the classic round "spiderweb".
