Medical First Responder/Emergency Medical Responder Course

St. John is proud to offer:
Medical First Responder Level I (40 hour)
Medical First Responder Level II (80 hour)
And
Emergency Medical Responder (96 hour)
This is a very intense and thorough course that is often taken by those people who are typically the first to the scene such as police, fire fighters and other medical response teams such as in mines. Other individuals are welcome to take the course as well.
Date of next course:
MFR I – April 26 - 30, 2021 (this is the pre-requisite for MFR II/EMR) *Deadline for registration is April 6, 2021
MFR II/EMR – May 10 - 14, 2021. *Deadline for registration April 26, 2021 (Must already have MFR level 1)
Pre-skills and exam date – Contact office for dates (Must attend)
Pre-requisites for this course are a St. John Ambulance OHS Standard First Aid/CPR C certificate current within the last year. You must also have your own BP cuff & stethoscope. (please call our office for details)

Anatomy & Physiology, Roles & Responsibilities, Infection Control Principles, Emergency Scene Management, Secondary Survey/Handover to EMS, Shock, Respiratory Emergencies & Oxygen Administration, Airway Management, Cardiovascular Emergencies & CPR, Severe Bleeding, Chest Injuries, Medical Emergencies, Head & Spinal Injuries, AED, Burns, Wound Management, Heat and Cold Injuries, Lifting and Carrying, Musculoskeletal Injuries-Upper Extremities, Musculoskeletal Injuries-Lower extremities, Head/Spinal/Pelvic Injuries, Poisons. Bites and Stings, Anatomy & Physiology, Behavioral Emergencies, Eye Injuries, Gastro-intestinal/Genito-Urinary Injuries, Multiple Casualty Management, Substance Abuse, Communications, Geriatric Emergencies, Emergency Childbirth, Pediatric Emergencies, Aquatic Emergencies, Ambulance Operation and Maintenance, Record Keeping, General Pharmacology and Dental Emergencies.
Certification is valid for 3 years.
