Piping Superintendent
Description
Here is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a project team in beautiful Kitimat, British Columbia as a
General Superintendent. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and directing the
performance of all field construction activities for assigned craft areas in conformance with plans,
specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. This position requires a working knowledge and
background of assigned work, the ability to appreciate and resolve complex situations with assistance,
and see actions as a series of steps. You will be fully supported as you continue to build your skills,
support a schedule driven project where the emphasis will be on people, client interface, development,
and management.
Advantages
Hours are 10 hours a day (if located at site, there is a 5% uplift)
1.5 hrs. a day are paid at Overtime
Shifts are 14/7 rotation if travelling to site from AB or BC and 20/8 rotation for further provinces
Responsibilities
1. Monitor and audit the performance of DFL personnel in assuring that work is completed
according to specifications, plans, construction schedules, applicable safety regulations, and
quality requirements
2. Coordinates with the Engineer Manager and Project Engineering to resolve technical problems
encountered during the construction phase
3. Plans, schedules, and coordinates the work with DFL to insure conformance to construction
schedules.
4. Insures conformance to project work rules and regulations. Participates in meetings where the
specific function expertise is required.
5. Plan and direct the work activities of all involved crafts for assigned construction crafts in
alignment with available engineering deliverables, tools, construction equipment, and materials.
6. Analyze situations, identify, and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and
recommend/implement appropriate course of action
Qualifications
1. Successfully managed piping activities on projects, fully knowledgeable and experienced in the means, processes and methods needed to successfully construct and install aboveground piping systems regardless of metallurgy, size, and wall thickness
2. Experience with Compressor piping installation, and pipe strains is preferred
3. Successfully supervised and managed a minimum of 100 craft personnel.
4. Coordinate and implement indirect activities, internal and external, required to support a productive construction execution; including functional staff support, support craft activities, and any other resource necessary to assure a safe and quality execution
5. Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and electronic presentation programs
